After searching for Cambodian food for about 15 mins deep into Cambodia from the border gate, I kind of expected to see more restaurants or street cart vendors. There wasn't (there were a couple Vietnamese looking ones), so I returned towards the border and that's when I noticed the entrance to this market on the left side of the street (when looking straight at the border entrance). Initially, people were shouting at me, telling me (I think...) "4 dollars" (as in, $4 to enter the market)... I motioned eating and said I just wanted food, and they let me freely roam. The place I landed on was the first place grilling food (turned out to be fish) on the left side of the street/opposite side of the main plaza building. About a block in. They don't speak any English (not that they're supposed to). I pointed to the fish, and they showed me the Cambodian money it cost (presumably). I only had dollars. I showed a $5 bill, and they gladly accepted. I also wanted to try the egg dish they had (they had a food cart reminiscent of a street food vendor in Vietnam). I believe it only cost 1K Cambodian (which turns out to be about $0.25... so I'm guessing the fish was no more than $0.50-1.00), thus, they pretty well took advantage of me... They could have given me a couple extra things or a water, but... whatever. This might be the only time I come here... for the rest of my life. The fish looked better than it tasted. It was kind of a mushy, clearly a bottom feeder (like a bullhead, but did not taste as good). The egg dish had bits of crab (and a few small pieces of crab shell). The guy across from me had a bowl of fish soup (he allowed me to take a pic). I really wanted to try some good Cambodian food - that'll have to come from within Vietnam.

Even early in the morning, there are a lot of things open! A nice surprise. A lot of the vendors are actually serving Vietnamese food and will accept Vietnamese currency, so you don’t need to convert. Lots of interesting snacks. The market also has some spas and massage spots.
