I wouldn’t recommend going into the vet tech program at Lakeland. Save yourself the money and headache it was the most stressful experience dare I saw worse than university. Some profs yell at you tear you down and target certain students. Even when you bring up your concerns they don’t seem to be on your side. If you don’t do well on something do not expect a good explanation and good feedback I was left in the dark many times. They put too much time on SLC when we have a heavy curriculum already. This program is not set up for success they have a lot of work to do before it can be what it should be. There are profs that try there best to help you like Amy and Kim but the program needs more profs that are willing to help the students be successful in their careers. There is many students I went to school with that have no desire to be a vet tech anymore but they believe it is too late to back out and choose another program. Be aware if you change your mind you are unable to use any classes as a credit or get a certification from first year. My daughter's application was approved with one condition of submitting 20 hours of volunteer work in a vet clinic as she was registered for the veterinary medical assistant program long story short, there was no vet clinic in Prince george, BC that would accommodate volunteers liability reasons, she had everything in place from an improved student loan to approved residence in the dorm and today, August 25th the day before we were to leave to get her settled in, the college rejected her admission due to not having done the twenty hours of volunteer work. Honest review. Spent 3 different years at lakeland in the trades for electrical. I had applied for my 4th year back in may 2023. That was suppose to start come sept 18 2023. To find out 2 weeks before my class was canceled and limited chance of getting a spot. Into the next intake of classes. I would NOT recommend lakeland vermilion after find this out. Save yourself the head ache and go to nait or red derer. They had also cancled 10 other students at the same time i found out.
