OK viewpoint. Toilet available (with a very strong odour that could be detected 30 feet away). As others have mentioned, there is no live (or any) schedule available for the trains to pass through the tunnel. We waited 30 minutes in the hot sun and eventually gave up. I believe you have to be very dedicated or very fortunate to see a train pass through during a routine/unscheduled stop. I have attached a photo of a train I saw just parked outside IGA supermarket in Golden earlier on the same day (no waiting!). That is likely to be the only train you'll be...

Driving through when we saw the sign about the Spiral Tunnel Viewpoint. Lots of parking for people to stop and stretch. Good information located at the stop to learn about the rail line and how it snakes through the area. At the time, we could see a train passing through so it helped us identify where the lines were, but if the train wasn't passing through, it would have been hard to see/know where the train lines were. The washroom is not great...dark and not lit, smells bad, no running water, so if you need to go, at least there is a...

Google Maps doesn’t know you can make a left turn from eastbound Canada 1 into this parking lot. There is a dedicated left turn lane here. I’ve done it and it can be seen on Street View. Lots of parking. The view isn’t spectacular due to trees, but it’s very interesting to watch. If you like trains, or like to marvel at engineering projects, this is a great place to stop. I enjoyed it and learned a lot about this project.
