Coombs Country Candy — Local services in Area F (Cherry Creek)

Our last visit here was January 19 at around 4:30 pm. There were two young ladies working, one who is usually working when we go in who is always rude, I don't know her name. We don't live in Port but come through here every couple of weeks and always stop in (my wife and daughters love the chocolate) the service has not been great in the past, it always felt like we were interrupting her personal conversations and she was irritated to help us. But we overlooked it.

We were looking to get our second ice cream cake from here and again felt like we were interrupting the personal conversation between the two. I know good help is hard to find and we are pretty easy going but when my wife tried to ask about getting an ice cream cake without the chocolate on the bottom both the employees started arguing with her about it. It ended with an eye roll from one of the girls. They could have just suggested we order a custom cake but don't care enough about serving the customer to do so. We had other items we were going to buy. We would always get a couple of chocolate bars, but we just left. I apologized to my girls for not getting them the promised treat but the service was just terrible and has been every time so we will never be going back.

I am posting this so the owner knows the type of service that is taking place. Pretty sad when I can't spend my money at an establishment because the employees aren't interested in serving me and are extremely rude and borderline...

Had a great visit today, decided to stop in since we were right off of the highway. Staff were super friendly and polite and asked us to use the hand sanitizer as we enter, following covid 19 protocol. Clean place inside and out and everything was displayed in a manner that made it feel cozy. Mostly made on site, as we watched the huge chunks of chocolate cooling down and being chopped into squares. All kinds of brittle, peanut, pecan and sesame are what we grabbed along with chocolate/coconut macaroons. Still had to drive back to pick up the kids at school so we didn't indulge in the Gelato and ice cream which looked so good. My father would have loved this place as he had a sweet tooth, yet had diabetes but let me tell you that it's all sugar free!! Definitely coming back as we have more exploring of the area to do. After pondering the thought for a while now, I’ve decided to leave a review. I visited the store on February 21st at around 11.30am and initially wanted to purchase a gift basket. I didn’t end up buying anything and left with an utterly bad feeling instead. Unfortunately, I overheard a conversation between two employees - the woman was vividly explaining how she abused her cat. It was heartbreaking to hear. This has been the second time this employee has caught my attention. The first time she was mocking a customer who just left and ridiculed his looks - all this while I was being present in the store. I’ve now decided to not purchase anything from Coombs Country Candy again as they seem to not care about anything there.
