Kawartha Dairy Bancroft — Local services in Faraday

EDIT I called and spoke with Sherie the manager and she was absolutely fabulous. She agreed with us and rectified the situation by offering an apology and free coupons. She made us want to return! Thank you for being so understanding Sherie!

This place has been one of my favourite spots to come for ice cream for close to 20 years as my friend’s cottage is close by. We came tonight while on our annual girls trip. 8 of us came to get ice cream. We arrived at 818pm. There was a large line up. At 830 they put up a sign blocking the line and explained they couldn’t take anymore customers and we were the last ones in line. At 9pm two of our friends had been served and as the rest of us went up to order we were told they could no longer serve us. We explained two people in our party had already been served and the lady at the window said she could lose her job if she serves us passed 9pm. We tried to just purchase a tub of ice cream from inside the store as well and were turned away. This is absolutely ridiculous customer service in my opinion. They should have finished serving all of us as we were the last people in line. It was also very obvious that we were a group and they could have told our friends to take our orders. We will...

A long way to drive for small cones.

We have been loyal Kawartha Dairy customers for ages. We have been to most of the Kawartha Dairy locations: Barrie, Newmarket, Uxbridge, Gravenhurst, and Bobcaygeon. We can now add Bancroft to our list.

The ice cream here is the same as the other locations. The quality of the ice cream is always excellent; just like all the other locations. The flavours are also the same as all other locations.

The only reason why I took a star off of this location is because of the size of the ice cream. We always order a “small” cone (which is two scoops). This way, we know exactly the size of the ice cream we should expect. The Bancroft location seems to “skimp” on the size of the ice cream cones. I noticed many customer cones where the size is about 20% smaller than what would be considered a normal size for a small. When I got my “small” cone, it definitely was smaller than expected. Very disappointing.

Other location, such as Bobcaygeon or Barrie, seems to offer more consistent ice cream sizes.

This review should be 5 stars because the ice cream is delicious; however, the woman who took our order ruined the experience. When I asked for a small, she kept insisting that I would regret my decision, trying to talk me out of getting a small. I said I wanted two flavours so I didn't want the baby size. She kept saying well it will be a lot, and you will probably regret it. It made me feel very uncomfortable and bad for wanting a bigger size. I said "okay, so I should get the baby?", but my husband stepped in and said no, thank you, we want the small. 10 minutes later I walked into the store and heard her loudly complaining about a customer. She was saying "I won't give you ice cream if you don't decide (sarcastically), you've been in line for 30 minutes and you still don't know what you want, come on!" It was very rude and very loud. Her behavior was inappropriate and unprofessional. Perhaps name tags should be worn so we can address our concerns to the specific employee involved. The other employees seemed kind...
