Cave Spring. What to say? The staff was charismatic and knowledgeable, as you would hope at a winery. The selection was large and fairly varied. The wines themselves are really good as well - the Cave Spring 2019 Dry Riesling is the Dry Riesling that got me into Dry Rieslings. The venue is modern, clean, simple, and gorgeous, with a classy patio that overlooks a massive vineyard. It's all lovely.
But it lacks soul, it lacks character. Now, there isn't necessarily anything wrong with that. You can come to Cave Spring, get a little tasting going, sit on the new modern patio, and recline in a comfortable chair, soaking up the sun. It's easy to do this, it's simple to do this. You'll have a good time doing it. You won't want to leave. It all just makes you very sleepy. A happy sleepy, but sleepy nonetheless. And when you finally do pay the bill and go, you'll be left thinking: "Ah, that was nice. But... What makes Cave Spring, Cave Spring?"
Maybe that question doesn't need to be answered. It doesn't really take away from the experience, which is a great one, for what it is. All I mean to say is, if you want a passionate winery experience, something a bit more wild, something that gets you engaged and interested, I don't think Cave Spring is the place. If you want to just sit back and relax, Cave Spring most definitely is. In that regard, I think it's 5 stars, and does...
Read moreUPDATE: Finally made it back on a gorgeous sunny October Saturday. After a great hike at Cave Springs C.A., the patio at Cave Springs was the perfect follow-up. It had clearly been a busy day, but our host, Rob, was welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. Views of the Escarpment, vineyards, and on this Saturday a wedding at the adjacent event space. I've been enjoying the 2023 Reisling (Adam Steps) that came home from this visit!
Great wines, great experience (thanks, Rob)! I am looking forward to a return trip (sooner).

ORIGINAL REVIEW: What a fantastic new space Cave Spring has. We enjoyed flights of wine sitting on the 2nd floor outdoor patio. Beautiful views over the vineyards with the Escarpment in the background. They have lots of indoor seating and a huge patio. Wonderful, friendly staff. What a great way to spend time on a summer afternoon, tasting delicious wines, outdoors with a lovely view. Highly...
Read moreWe have been long time drinkers of Cave Springs wine - this review is not a reflection of their wine but the service at this specific location.
They claim to be a 'dog friendly' winery but they also have a 'no bark policy' - which in that, if your dog barks even once, you will be asked to vacate the premises immediately. We had been sitting for over 45 minutes in essentially silence when my dog barked exactly ONCE because she was caught off guard by someone walking by, and were told to leave because barking or noise of any sort was not permitted.
This was amplified by the cool reception from the beginning where you can tell the staff are not comfortable with dogs on the premises.
I'm genuinely surprised that this venue labelled themselves as dog friendly when it is evident they adhere to a no noise policy.
We will not be back to this location or recommend...
