“l Singing Sands Beach was a delightful experience. The beach is absolutely beautiful, with expansive sandy shores and stunning views of Lake Huron.
The unique experience of hearing the sand ‘sing’ as we walked was fascinating and added a special touch to our visit. The beach was peaceful and not too crowded, making it perfect for a relaxing day out.
Parking was convenient, with ample space available near the beach. While there were parking fees, it was well worth it for the experience. The pathways to the beach were well-maintained and easily accessible, suitable for visitors of all ages.
The shallow, clear waters were ideal for swimming, especially for families with children. We also enjoyed a picnic at one of the many available spots, with tables and grassy areas providing a comfortable setting.
The surrounding trails offered opportunities for a pleasant hike, and we even spotted some interesting wildlife, which was a treat for nature enthusiasts.
Basic amenities such as restrooms and changing facilities were available, making the visit more comfortable.
However, it’s important to note that lifeguards were not always on duty, so swimming with caution is advised.
Overall, my visit to Singing Sands Beach was wonderful. The combination of unique singing sands, beautiful scenery, and a range of activities makes it a must-visit destination in the area.
I highly recommend planning a visit, especially during less crowded times, to fully enjoy this...
Read moreSinging Sands is a peaceful, shallow beach tucked away on the Lake Huron side of the Bruce Peninsula. The water stretches far before it gets deep, making it perfect for families, wading, and just relaxing in the sun. There’s a boardwalk trail through unique dune and fen habitats where you might spot pitcher plants, rare orchids, and butterflies. Facilities are minimal but clean — with washrooms, picnic tables, and accessible beach mats.
But despite the name, the sands no longer “sing.” In the past, the perfectly dry, fine quartz grains would create a soft squeaking sound when you walked on them or when the wind blew across. Today, due to natural wear, moisture, human traffic, and slight changes in the sand composition, that magical sound has disappeared. It’s a bit sad — but it doesn’t take away from the beauty of the place.
🚫 No lifeguards, so swim at your own risk. 🅿️ Parking fills up quickly on weekends — go early. 🐍 Be cautious of poison ivy and possible snake sightings. 🐶 Pets allowed on leash.
Even though the sands are silent now, the spot remains peaceful, scenic, and well worth a visit if you’re exploring Tobermory or the...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this beach. It's super shallow and you've got so much space to enjoy the water, the scenery, the beauty of it. It ends up being a nice work out if you walk all the way to deeper waters. The sand is nice and compact with ridges but it could hurt your feet. Water shoes is advisable. Love that they have a water filling station-the ones that are electric where you simply put your water bottle underneath. There's washrooms change rooms and even a foot wash by the pavilion. The parking is across the street and could be costly. Paid $33 (parking + our group)for about 3.5 hours. Have a cart or buggy if you're planning to bring food for your picnic. There are picnic benches right on the sandy part of the beach (not near the water). The water was warm (shallow area) and of course, gets cold the deeper you go. It was clean and clear too. Bring a floaty or two.
Overall, fantastic time was had by all. Just be sure to get there early enough to secure a parking spot. Going on a...
