Sugar & Spice Chocolate Exeter Limited — Local services in South Huron

The chocolates here are hands down the best in the area. No question about it. No debating required. If you have time, need a hostess gift, maybe a birthday or anniversary present, this is by far the place to buy it.

However, and consider yourself warned, the service is atrocious. First, be prepared to be followed. Nothing makes for an uncomfortable situation like being stalked while perusing the chocolates, candies and gifts like you're an escaped convict. Even if you tell them you don't have any questions or need assistance they're right there behind you.

Secondly, don't ask for anything. Even if an associate asks you if you need anything. God forbid you should ask for something their out of. I was sternly told that they don't have any more of those chocolate covered cookies! They made two whole batches for the Chirstmas season and they sold out! Nothing they could do about it! Then she stormed off .... I would like to suggest that perhaps making another batch would have been a viable solution but then again I'm not in the business of making chocolates - just eating them.

Thirdly, They also don't explain sales very well. Never assume anything they say is on sale is actually on sale. I was corrected twice (of course very rudely) about what Christmas candy actually was and then when I went to make my purchase was informed that everything in the Christmas candy area was not all Christmas candy even though an associate told me twice it was. Not to mention the whole time you're being rung in the associate is yelling at other customers what that price is: "Oh that's FIFTY DOLLARS. We sell A LOT OF THOSE. IT'S FIFTY DOLLARS".

This brings me to my final remark, anyone operating the register yells out the cost of everything they ring in. Be prepared, as it can be a little startling. Nobody wants to hear someone's purchase being screamed out item by item as it's rung in and, personally, I don't like having every Tom, Dick and Harry in the place hearing mine but it happens. Also, make sure trinkets and small chocolates on the counter don't get rung into your purchase. They tend to have a lot of things on display there and sometimes extra things get put into your order. Don't worry too much because it's all incredibly tasty but, maybe if you go a little over budget, just check the bag.

Don't get me wrong - The chocolates here are beyond fabulous. Five out of five for sure and I should note you pay for it (but it's worth it). The service difinitely gets a big fat zero though. I go because I know what I want, the product always impresses and occasionally the associates are so rude it...

I received a 1lb box of Sugar & Spice chocolates from Exeter (unsure if it was this store or the factory outlet). But they are some of the best chocolates I've had in a long time! It's the way chocolates should taste. I'm not gifting anyone any other...
