The staff here will lie and steal from you! We had no issues entering Grand Cayman from Texas. However, upon attempting to return home, the GCM airport staff were horrific to our entire group. They yelled and laughed, "this isn't America!" and "you're not in America any more!" the entire time. I noticed other reviews calling out staff mistreats groups. There were seven of us all different races/genders. First, they lied claiming we had items in our carryon bags over 3oz. We didn't. When they realized that lie wouldn't work, they made everyone in our group empty their bags. One female in our group was also "randomly" selected for a separate search, which she relayed to us later as being "just short of a strip search." All of the staff repeatedly lied to us and condescended us; and we could tell it's their favorite part of the job. They had huge bins behind them full of items they likely kept unnecessarily for themselves. As they raided our bags, one woman went through two of the girls' bags and was absolutely thrilled by all of the makeup/toiletries she thought she'd get to steal. You could tell because she continued holding select items in her hands. In addition to chanting variances of, "this isn't America" the staff's general rudeness was present once we arrived. Many in our group had been to Cayman several times and hadn't prior experienced these issues, but also weren't part of a such a large hybrid group. We had no issues entering the country and packed our luggage to come home the exact same way. Therefore, we assumed we shouldn't encounter any issues. Ultimately, some of us were able to keep our carryons and some bags had to be checked. While standing in line to board outside by the plane, one staff member found a member of our group and had decided their carryon items were compliant, but the bag itself was too large and now also needed to be checked. We disputed and were allowed to keep the carryon bag. Just shows their pettiness allowing her through only to change their minds for no reason at the last minute. My personal carryon bag was forcibly checked so that I could keep all of my belongings. I thought this was the best choice, but the airport staff made sure to let me know I was not welcome back. Despite their being no rain, every item inside my bag was wet - how did the staff manage to dampen all of my items? I'm not sure. They also poured a mysterious substance on several of my clothing items, creating disgusting stains, photos attached. Every member of our group was terrorized for a variety of senseless reasons - I agree with other reviews, seems the staff makes up rules as they go. They clearly expressed their disdain for Americans. Mentally prepare to have all of the relaxation you enjoyed on your...
Read moreI have the worst and most humiliating experience at the Cayman airport on November 16, 2024. Steps away from exiting baggage claim I was stop by a security officer and told that I was randomly selected for a search. I meet another black male officer who immediately starts searching my carry-on, and starts asking me invasive questions an engaging and small talk with me about what I do for work and what type of law I practice as I am an attorney, which was inappropriate as I felt he trying to become too familiar with me rather than focus on the search. He states that he wanted to search my luggage and he pulls out every item out of my bag, all of my toiletries, Everything, he goes through all of my clothes. It was humiliating. I asked for a manager to come out and a female manager and two other female officers come out and they were rude and insulting and had inappropriate attitude towards me. I travel to many countries and this was the worst treatment by airport security I explain that it was my birthday That didn’t matter as I was being searched no one else was being searched My flight arrived with several other flights out of the hundreds of people that arrive at the same time as me I was the only one being searched in a public area and it was humiliating I told them that I felt targeted and singled out. I will never come back to the Cayman Islands. This was my first and last visit to the Cayman Islands and as I’m stuck here for the next...
Read moreWorst security I have ever encountered!!!!!!!!!!! I am a world traveller and have never had any issues traveling. I came into this airport with my spouse for a quick vacation and we were chosen for a search. The woman who searched our bags spoke with us like we were criminals! She literally unraveled every single sock in my luggage, went through every pill, and left our clothes in disarray. She asked over and over why we were in the country and we explained for vacation. She went through every medication bottle, my underwear, and even counted our money all while talking down to us. I honestly felt violated. I’m not sure why we were even chosen for the search, as we were the only people in there. Literally every single person on my flight walked through, but they targeted only us. We are both American citizens and world travelers so I was surprised to be treated so poorly! I understand that sometimes you may get randomly chosen for a search, but the rudeness and attitude were completely unnecessary! This lady was on a power trip! It really left us with a bad taste in our mouths, so much so that we were contemplating returning home that day! I spoke with locals about our treatment at this airport, and all were surprised, saying that it’s usually locals who are searched. In all my years of travel, I have never experienced such unprofessionalism, rudeness, and attitude. Its safe to say that we will not be returning to...
