🇨🇦 The Inka Coya lagoon, also known as Chiu Chiu lagoon, is located 6 km east of the town of Chiu Chiu. This beautiful lagoon with an asymmetrical oval shape has an area of 1.30 hectares, its water is fresh and it is surrounded by a varied fauna and flora.

Legend: Colque-Coillur was the most beautiful of the Ñustas, her sweetness and innocence conquered the Inca Atahualpa Yupanqui, who had arrived in the beautiful lands of Chiuchiu. A promise from her beloved convinced the young woman and she offered her the most precious stone of her being, her womb coined a child. Then a betrayal by Atahualpa caused Princess Colque-Coillur to submerge in the waters of the lagoon with her child and she was never heard from again. Although intrepid and experienced swimmers searched for the injured ñusta, they were unable to find it, attributing its disappearance to the fact that the lagoon had no bottom. It was because of her tragedy that she was called Inca Coya, which means the Inca's wife or the Inca's girl.
