A Lagoa Chaxa no Salar de Atacama, que ocupa uma área com cerca de 3.000 Km² de crostas de sal em terreno irregular, emoldurado pelos vulcões Licancabur e Lascar, entre a Cordilheira dos Andes e a Cordilheira do Sal.
