Review: Songzanlin Scenic Spot
Songzanlin Scenic Spot is simply breathtaking. Perched amidst the highlands, the monastery’s golden rooftops and grand architecture shine brilliantly from afar, creating a picture-perfect scene.
Climbing the steps to the main complex was a bit of a challenge, but manageable with breaks along the way. The effort was worth it — the panoramic views and spiritual energy at the top are unforgettable.
Inside, I explored several beautifully adorned temples and was honored to be welcomed by a group of monks who had just finished their prayers in the main hall. Their calm presence added to the deep sense of peace that fills the entire complex.
What makes Songzanlin truly special isn’t just its visual majesty, but the serenity it offers. It’s a place where the mind slows down, the heart opens up, and the soul finds rest. Whether you’re drawn by culture, architecture, or inner reflection, this place speaks to something deeper.
A deeply calming and therapeutic destination — perfect for those seeking peace and...

Don’t buy the guide tkt as you can’t find the guide in Chinese once you arrive at the gate of the temple. You have to take an official bus for 5 mins to the gate of the temple. There are quite a few steps walking up at already 3300m. You will see a lot of people dressed up in local costumes taking pix. Nevertheless it is an impressive view, would be nice to have some multilingual audio guide. If you want a full impression of the temple, you need to walk across the street at exit and walk around the lake to the opposite side. There you will be able to get a beautiful...
Read moreBeautiful monastery with interesting features and rich in culture. There are 200 steps going up, and some people do start to feel altitude sickness on the ascent. Can see people holding oxygen cans. There is a very very good and beautiful coffee shop at the bottom, but they close at 530pm. The 3 temples are spectacular, but you are not allowed to take any photos inside. It is a pity a big part of it was under construction, and there is a bad smell from all the metal grinding, which is really awful for people already struggling with the altitude, and yet have to breathe this bad air. The toilets are.... sad to sad, very dirty. Good luck if...
