Santa Cruz del Islote — Local services in Bolívar

While on my vacation trip in Cartagena, as a group we wanted to explore and the history itself seemed very interesting. However do not waste your time with this island. The travel company told us it’s a 2.5 hr drive and it actually took as 5.5 hrs to get to the boat that takes us to the island. I don’t know how long anyone else experience was as for the ride but it was ridiculously long and a waste of day. After doing the tour when it was time to head back to a very long drive again our return boat was overloaded with many ppl that they claim were there days before. Long story short, upon arrival the crew did not direct the captain correctly leading us to hit a rock and the boat got stuck. Not to forget Due to the of ppl and water current we started rocking like crazy and almost tipped over. But it doesn’t end there, due to almost getting tipped over we had waves hit us and had not choice but to jump off the boat! The crew told everyone to get off but leave the life vests in the boat. Crazy! For them to ask to just into the ocean with waves coming at us. I for sure kept my vest on till I was on shore. There’s definitely more beautiful white sandy beaches and I’m sad that an entire day was wasted...

পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন মহাসাগরের মধ্যে রয়েছে নানারকম অজানা দ্বীপপুঞ্জ। কতগুলি রয়েছে নিজস্ব স্বাধীনতা নিয়ে আবার কতগুলি রয়েছে স্বাধীন রাষ্ট্রের অধীনে। এরকমই একটি অজানা দ্বীপপুঞ্জ নিয়ে কিছু তথ্য রইল আজ আমাদের এই পর্বে।

সান্তাক্রুজ দেল ইসলোটে, কলম্বিয়া::--

কলম্বিয়ার উত্তরে ক্যারিবিয়ান সাগরের মধ্যে অবস্থিত ছোট্ট একটি দ্বীপ সান্তাক্রুজ দেল ইসলোটে। বিভিন্ন ইন্টারনেটের তথ্য থেকে একথা বলা হয় যে এটিই বিশ্বের সবথেকে ঘিঞ্জি দ্বীপ।

বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে ঘিঞ্জি দ্বীপে নেই পর্যাপ্ত পানীয় জল, টয়লেট, হাসপাতাল, নেই কোনও পুলিশ, অসুখ হলে হাসপাতালও নেই। চারধারে সমুদ্র। তবু এ ঘিঞ্জি দ্বীপে দিব্যিই থাকেন কয়েকশো মানুষজন।

শহরে বসবাসকারী মানুষজনের মধ্যে অনেকেই হয়তো বলবেন বিনা পয়সায় থাকতে দিলেও এখানে থাকব না। কারণ এখানে বসবাসের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় সব কিছুরই অভাব রয়েছে। তবুও এইসব নেইয়ের দ্বীপে কিন্তু মানুষের বাস সারা পৃথিবীকেই অবাক করে। এটাই পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে ঘনবসতিপূর্ণ দ্বীপ।

চারধারে নীল জলরাশির সমুদ্র। তার মাঝে প্রায় ২ একর জমি নিয়ে কোনরকমে টিকে রয়েছে একটা দ্বীপ। সেই দ্বীপেই কমসেকম ১২০০ মানুষের বাস।এই দ্বীপে গায়েগায়ে লেগে আছে বসতবাড়ি। অন্যান্য ঘরবাড়ির সামান্য ফাঁক গলে তবেই নিজের বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করতে হয়।

এই দ্বীপের বসবাসকারী সাধারণ মানুষের শরীর খারাপ হলে ছোট্ট একটা প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্র আছে। সেখানে যেটুকু চিকিৎসা ব্যবস্থা তাতে বড় ধরনের কোন অসুখ করলে মানুষের মৃত্যু অবশ্যম্ভাবী। পানীয় জল সরবরাহের জন্য কোনও জলের পাইপ নেই। দিতে বসবাসকারী মানুষদের সমুদ্রপথে পানীয় জল আনতে হয় দূরবর্তী কলম্বিয়ার মূল ভূখণ্ড থেকে।

দ্বীপটিতে নেই কোন স্থায়ী বিদ্যুৎ ব্যবস্থা। তবে বর্তমানে কিছু সোলার প্যানেল লাগানো হয়েছে। তাই দিয়ে যেটুকু বিদ্যুৎ জোটে। কোনও রকম প্রশাসনিক বিভাগ নেই এই দ্বীপে। বলা হয় এখানে নাকি চুরি, ডাকাতির মতো ঘটনা ঘটেই না। এই সব কিছু নেইয়ের দ্বীপেই কিন্তু ঠাসাঠাসি করে বাস করেন মানুষজন।

কিন্তু একথা একবার ভেবে দেখুন তো যেখানে জীবনধারণের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় প্রতিটি জিনিসের অভাব রয়েছে সেখানে এভাবে মানুষের বসবাস সত্যি বিশ্ববাসীকে অবাক করে তোলে।...

Hideous. Just a shanty town, locals used to living under those "precarious" conditions to the eyes of outsiders but they seem to be ok and happy. Visited because it was a stopover for a day tour bound for Mucura-Tintipan which I bought in Tolu but it is not worth time and money disembarking on El Islote. Tour operators should delete this unnecessary visit that steals precious time from tourists that can be easily spent on Tintipan´s pristine waters and soft white sand. Not recommended. Source of pollution to the sea and affecting...
