Some thoughts on Greenway tour which we took both the Classic tour and the Highlights tour in direct succession. Overall it was a great holiday which we enjoyed very much, All the hotels have been good to very good and the service we received was excellent. The room in Manuel Antonio in Casa Verde and the Trapp Family hotel in Monteverde were particularly good. The part in Mt Arenal worked particularly well. Abel was an excellent tour guide, enthusiastic about birds and animals, very knowledgeable. It was nice to develop a relationship with him over the 2-3 days we were with him. He also considered it part of his job to show us things on the way. Having a driver/guide worked very well. Most connections worked well, with limited exceptions. This was despite everything being remote. The local person as far as we could see was not an employee of Greenways. The distance/time between the locations are problematic. Some additional thought should be given to break the journey up with a short tourist stop and not just a lunch stop. As a place to stop for lunch, El Jardin on toute 34 was AWFUL. Horrid atmosphere, marginal food and felt like a tourist trap just to sell souvenirs. Compared to all the other places we stopped and ate at it was like a bad American truck stop. There were obviously better and more ethnic stops we could have had the break at. This was a particular problem between Tortugueno and Montevelde, where most of the tourists went direct and not via San Jose and overnight. Manuel Antonia is a lovely NP except it has roughly 5 times as many people as it can usefully accept. This was a particular problem for the 7:30 AM walk. It might be less of a problem later but then I don’t know what we would see later or indeed if the guide realised it was a problem and adapted the walk to avoid the worst of the crowds. This was in contrast to the walk in Monteverde which was...
Read moreI recently took a trip to Costa Rica with six other individuals. My travel agent, All Around Travel, LLC, book our three excursions with Greenway Nature Tours, Costa Rica. We did the San José Tour w/Lunch, Arenal Zip Line Canopy and Hot Springs w/Lunch, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour w/Lunch. Our tour guide was Alberto (Beto) and our driver was Eugene. We had the same driver and tour guide all three days and this was very nice. We also rode in a van and it was a nice size for us.
Our tour guide Alberto (Beto), English was very good. He told us what the colors on Costa Rican’s flag means, that Costa Rica hasn’t had an army since 1948, Costa Rica’s COVID-19 Vaccination Rate, explained that in Costa Rica all the gas stations have the same price for their fuel. Basically, Beto told us a lot of information about Costa Rica. He answered all of our questions and he even took a slow motion video of the Hummingbirds at La Paz Waterfall Gardens Tour. I didn’t even ask him but he thought it would be cool to have a slow motion video of the Hummingbirds. When we went to different places. He told us if the souvenir prices were good or to high and then he took us to a place we could buy souvenirs from and help divorced women in San José, Costa Rica. Beto was very friendly and very nice.
I do want to note, the drive from San José, Costa Rica to Arenal Zip Line Canopy in La Fortuna, San Carlos, Costa Rica took us three hours. A lot of the guest were sleep however, I stayed up to see the scenery and to list to Beto give different facts about Costa Rica. On the ride home from Baldi Hot Springs in La Fortuna, San Carlos, Costa Rica took us four hours due to their being traffic...
Read moreOn June 26 of this year we carried out an educational tour in which we were able to enjoy and learn more about our country. To begin with, I found the guy who was our guide very nice as he was very attentive and dedicated himself to explaining everything in great detail. Since the tour began, the guide explained to us about the subject of the volcano, how many volcanoes there are in the country, national parks and details about the geographical area to which we were traveling. We learned that in Costa Rica there are 19 national parks as well, that some of its most popular volcanoes are Poás, Rincón de la Vieja, Turrialba, etc. About the area we traveled to, we discovered that there are a large number of crops of potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, onion and more products.
Upon arriving at the Irazu volcano, they explained to us about its craters, the materials it contains and how eruptions are in the country.
We went for lunch and the lunch was very tasty, plenty of food with good flavor.
In the Lankester garden, we saw many types of plants. We saw a large number of Guaria Morada, which is the typical flower of the country, in addition, we saw a Japanese-style garden, giant ferns and a huge variety of cacti and succulents The truth is that I really enjoyed learning, seeing a great variety of vegetation and learning more about...
