We have booked many fun Viator tours when traveling, but our experience with La Roca Canyoning ("Waterfall Rapelling, Ziplining, Pool Jumping, Hiking with Lunch") was our first negative experience. Beware that there is a glitch in their booking platform, as we selected "I'll Decide Later' for the meeting and pickup options because our hotel was not listed as an option for pick-up. When we messaged the tour operator to ask about the meeting location, they gave us instructions to meet at 7:45am at La Roca Bistro Restaurant, saying that they'd pick us up at 7:50am to get to the canyoning tour. Well, we woke up early and arrived at 7:35am (mind you, we were on our honeymoon so had to cut out evening short the night before in order to wake up early for this tour). They should've mentioned that the location is inside Mistico Park, where there are tons of other tours departing. The staff at the bistro told us we were in the right spot so we kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting....at 8am we knew something was wrong as none of the tour buses that came by were for us. I messaged both Viator and the Tour operator and was completely gaslit, as they told me I had selected that I would self-drive to the location. This was untrue, they told me they'd pick me up and I have the screenshots to prove it, but I guess there was a system glitch which is understandable but unacceptable as they did not acknowledge the technical mistake or the significant inconvenience, and instead made it seem like it was our fault. We waited for over an HOUR to be picked up and at this pointed just wanted to cancel. Finally the tour operator told us they were sending a shuttle for us, and we were taken to the canyoning location about an hour behind the rest of the group so we had to speed-up the safety/instruction and rush. The canyoning itself was really fun and the guides were excellent. However, at the end it turned sour again as they made us wait around for another 45mins to upsell video/photos which we did not want. Their payment system was down so it was a manual process to collect money from everyone else in the group. When the photo upsell session was done, we had waited around a total of 2hours unnecessarily and decided to skip the lunch as it was back at La Roca Bistro where the staff was unhelpful and I had bought a chocolate loaf earlier which was so stale it must've been sitting out there for a month. Disappointed by this whole experience, I asked for a refund as we missed half the tour due to the mishap and we didn't even eat any lunch, but they rejected our refund request with just a generic template and no personal explanation. They also had the audacity to charge me $5 for shoe rental after everything. Many places would've offered it for free after all the inconvenience as it was literally the least they could do. I am now fighting this charge with my credit card as the services were not fully rendered. My advice to future tourists looking to book this excursion, pay attention to the meeting/pickup location-- just because they say they'll pick you up, doesn't mean they will! We didn't let this negative experience ruin our day, but will say that out of our entire week in Costa Rica this was the only negative experience so it was really...

My wife and I saw the sign for this place as we were going through the gate to Mistico Swinging Bridge Park (also an amazing experience). As we were leaving, I was curious what canyoning was, so we made the turn to go check it out. My wife was not all that interested because she was scared, but after speaking with the guides, they convinced us to give it a shot! During the safety brief, they went over how everything works and made sure that we were all comfortable with the instructions (in English and Spanish). They also noted that they use a double belay system where there is a guide on the top and on the bottom of the rappel site to ensure your safety at all times. Once we started the first rappel, my wife told me that she was scared to go, but once she made it down, she had a beaming smile and was thoroughly enjoying the experience. We had no plans to do his activity on this trip, but the excitement of the rappels, zip lines, and waterfall jumps, combined with the friendly, playful, and funny guides made this one of our best experiences on this trip! A big thank you to all of the guides. If you are going to the La Fortuna area, be sure to stop by and add this experience to your...

We had an absolutely unforgettable experience with La Roca Canyoning during our 3-hour adventure tour. While it rained throughout the tour, the day was filled with exhilarating rappels down stunning waterfalls, zipping through the tranquil forest, and refreshing jumps into crystal-clear swimming holes. It was nothing short of amazing.

What truly set this tour apart were our guides, Caesar, Jose, and Kendall. They were not just guides; they were our entertainers, safety guardians, and photographers all rolled into one. Their professionalism, combined with a genuine passion for adventure, made us feel both exhilarated and secure throughout every moment of the tour.

To Caesar, Jose, and Kendall, thank you for making our tour not just an activity, but a highlight of our trip. Your dedication to safety, coupled with your spirited personalities, made for an exceptional day. We couldn't have asked for a better way to explore the beauty of Costa Rica. This experience is a glowing testament to the magic of La Roca Canyoning and its team. Five stars are not enough to express our gratitude...

These guys are the absolute best. They were safe and extremely fun throughout the entire canyoning experience. We paid for the pictures and videos and it was well worth it.

This place is incredible. This is our second time with these guys. They're so friendly and fun we had to go back. Caesar is the head honcho runs a tight ship. Extremely safe and a ton of fun. It's truly an adventure. They will assess your skill level and anxious level and adjust on the Fly for you. In our group we had two people that could not swim and they were very nervous to say the least. The guys took special care with them and made it a life changing event. Very cool to see in the world of Tourism. At the very end we hiked back up to there building and we got a incredible nature hike with one of the guides. We actually learned things along the way that I have never heard. Again an incredible experience I highly recommend these guys. We will book with them every time we go to Costa Rica.
