I'll start with the ONLY thing we didn't like: the "bus" (like a VW bus) from the our hotel in the capital to the site, and back. I had to tell the driver twice to drive more carefully, the second time sharply. He clearly didn't like it. We lived for years in Costa Rica, and we know the dangers of driving and how highway accidents happen there. The bus was not exactly comfortable, and needed new shocks.
OK - everything else was terrific! Good rafting Level 3/4, very good guide, excellent lunch after, and kudos to the photographer. I usually don't buy the photos, but they were great. Repeat: we LOVE the photos. The ride was lots of adrenalin and I think our safety was looked out for.
In my experience, the other main outfit for rafting here, Rios Tropicales, is more spiffy and expensive. I should note that if you are ready to drive 5 hours roundtrip, you can drive to Aguas Bravas near Sarapiqui and they'll discount your day.
Read moreA trip to Costa Rica wouldn't be complete without going.white water rafting. Our guide and friend, Leo Rodriguez, recommended Aguas Bravas and we were thrilled we decided to go rafting with them. Hansell and JJ were great guides and spotters. The equipment was first rate and the complimentary pineapple was the sweetest I have tasted in country. The entire excursion took around two hours with the end of May water level being the perfect speed for our family of four. A midway stop to jump off a small cliff and swim was a treat in the refreshing river. The afternoon showers rolled in during the last 20 minutes of the trip but there were no worries and as it was as refreshing as the river water. Everyone had a great experience and this was one of our favorite excursions for the many trips we have taken...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend booked onto this tour organised by the hotel we were staying at (Selva Verde) we were greeted by a friendly guide and a driver who were knowledgeable about the surrounding area as we drove through. As it was coming into the wet season we were the only ones booked onto the tour so got a private session even though it was still baking hot and sunny. Our guide was called knife who was amazing he was very friendly and he tailored our experience to how fast/vigorous we wanted the rapids experience. He was also very knowledgeable about the surrounding area on the raft and provided a nice lunch/snack with fresh fruit and showed us how they can fish with the fruit. We finished the tour and got to see all the pictures they took of us when we went rafting. 100% worth it would...
