We had a truly wonderful adventure with Wilson's Horseback Riding outfit. Our guides were knowledgeable and very good at what they do. Very kid friendly. They have plenty of very calm and well trained horses that were great for novices. And they did an excellent job managing the trickier parts of the ride. We got to cross a beautiful river twice, and at the first crossing we stopped for a snack and a swim in the river. The guides brought pineapple and cookies and the pineapple was some of the best pineapple I have had on this trip so far (we're 2 weeks in to a 3 week trip). If you're looking for a family friendly horse tour that's very affordable, this is definitely the right place! They don't currently have a sign out front, so be sure to call ahead to get directions. You don't have to make a reservation as long as they have time in their schedule, but I think it's easier for them if you call in advance and it will be easier for you to find the place if you know what you're looking for since there isn't a sign. We had an excellent time and we might even go back tomorrow morning for...
Read moreWe had a great time on this ride! Filipe and Josie did a great job as our guides. They pointed out local flora and fauna and Josie fed us ice cream bean right off the tree. We were staying at the Selva Verde Lodge up the street and they brought the horses to the lodge to pick us up! We rode back to the pastures where others joined our group. From there the trip was an ample two hours, up and down the foothills on trails I would have had to climb on all fours I think. Our guides said, "the horses know the way" and they did, up and down switchbacks and across the river (twice). Dubai was a sweet boy. He lagged off the back on the way out (those hills were gonna be some WORK!) But he was easily coaxed by Filipe to keep up, and he led the way back. After a stop to meet the buffalo, they led us back to the lodge to drop us off. Terrific experience, put it in your Sarapiqui...
Read moreWhat a great experience!! We highly recommend this tour. Beautiful ride with our two kids (6 en 7 yo) through all kinds of breathtaking sceneries. The ride was well equiped to our level of experience (hardly any) yet exciting and fun. We never felt unsafe, nor did the kids. Even when we were crossing the river. Time flew by as our guide Bayierdo (hope I spell this correctly) would tell us about the animals and medicinal plants we came across along the ride. Afterwards we were rewarded with some fresh pinapple and a ride on a water buffalo. This whole experience has left us with memories we will hold on to for a...
