Very disappointing how rapidly development has been allowed in this natural treasure.
Five years ago Isla Tortuga had a pristine beach with a single public picnic pavilion.
Now the beach is overrun with businesses, furniture, garbage. The water is choked with boats and reeks of gasoline, with basically a ferry now bringing customers rather than visitors (this is made explicit if you try to use the bathrooms, which are all labeled customer-only).
Where is all that fuel smell in the water coming from/going to? Where is the septic of the bathrooms going?

Luckily we visited the place in the afternoon we were the last batch so we got the entire beach empty quite a rare sight, and so we could witness the amazing views havung magical white sand and blue green waters. Couldn't see a lot snorkeling because of the water was choppy. They had a private area for the group that was comfortable. The beach chairs they provided were not comfortable but you can purchase lounge chairs with umbrellas. It was one of the best tours we took on our vacation. ...
