READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO!!!!
OSA, PLEASE respond and give me the medical insurance info you claim to provide your visitors!! WHY don't you respond to my emails??
(Reply to your reply). Yes it was Osa Canopy Tour that I was injured on...I have it on video and it is insulting that you would imply that I injured myself elsewhere! If you had insurance then why didn't you tell me about it. Your men carried me down the mountain straight to a pharmacy and left me there to deal with the aftermath. Yes you kindly returned our $59.
Yes your men did let me crash full force into the tree which is why my leg needed ACL reconstructive surgery. If you do have insurance for those that are injured on your tour, why didn't you give me the information...I know the men were in contact with the owner by phone that day and they where only told to return the money for the tour. Send me the insurance info!! My review is only to warn others that zip lining can be very dangerous and I thought that your operation was not as safe as it should be. I am not making this up as you imply and would gladly send you the video if you would kindly help offset my$6500 out of pocket medical expenses and months of not being able to work!.
But to act as though I didn't report it or wasn't even at your facility is pathetic. If your company doesn't take responsibility or even admit that there is a problem with your safety, than you guys should close down until someone else gets hurt!
Original post: We were recommended to go to this tour due to it's professionalism. Yes they were very friendly but my BIG complaint was that they did not spend enough time having us practice braking. On the first few runs you don't need to use the brakes at all (but it would have been good to have us practice on these ones) and then on about the 4th run YOU REALLY NEED TO BRAKE!! Perhaps if they had told us that this run was steeper and be prepared to use the brake (and a reminder of how to use it again) I would not have had the bad accident that I did. I went full force into the tree (THERE ARE NO AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEMS OR SHOCK ABSORBERS AT END OF RUN). Needless to say, I ruptured my ACL, tore my meniscus and just had surgery yesterday. This little adventure cost me $6500 in out of pocket medical expenses and months without work. I will be rehabilitating for 9 months.
These guys may be nice (yes thanks for carrying me down the mountain) but the operation itself need to be updated with BETTER SAFETY MEASURES!! The half leather glove used to brake is not very reassuring especially since they warn you not to touch your skin to the wire...that's all I could think about when I went down the run. Of course I didn't know I was going to slam right into a tree. Be warned and know that zip lining can be...
Read moreUpdate- we recently returned a second time to Osa Canopy Tours and loved it just as much and felt just as safe and cared for as the first time last year. Thank you to the great team, including David, Steven, Jason and Randy!!
Original review: We had a fantastic experience with Osa Canopy Tours. What a lovely group of guys who run the tours. Emmanuel, David and Jason in particular were kind, warm, capable, caring and patient … even with me being a bit nervous at first, and with our two kids- who they not only rode tandem with but also videoed. They bent over backwards to help us book via WhatsApp when they had a cancellation, even when their website showed our preferred time slot was sold out. While we don’t normally love riding in the back of a pick up truck (the way you get to and from the zipline course), we felt safe with their careful driving… and the scenery was a great distraction. It seems that the company takes 12 people maximum each tour, two tours a day. So no crazy crowds or lines like some places. We were lucky to have the morning tour to ourselves. The temperature was also lovely in the morning, too, and I would recommend the time slot to avoid more intense heat and sun. All said: Excellent views, excellent team. We felt safe and cared for the whole time. Thank you Emmanuel, Jason and David. And thank you Osa Canopy Tours for such a great...
Read moreThis adventure was on the last day of our trip and I wasn't thrilled about going. However, when we arrived the person behind the counter spoke fluent English and Spanish. She explained how the day would go and how many guides we would have. Once the entire group arrived, we climbed into the back if a pickup truck ad drive up the mountain. It took us about 20 minutes to get there. Portions of the road were paved and others just dirt. The climb was very steep so if you have an aversion to heights, this isn't for you.
Once we reached the top they put us all in our gear and gave us a rundown of how to break and the signals we would need to know to make our way through the tour.
We went through 9 zip lines, two bridges and two repelling descents. The longest line was around 750 meters. The scenery is breathtaking and you gave views of the ocean.
Once finished, they take you to a pavilion where they will serve you fresh pineapple, mango and watermelon along with water. You have the option of going on the Tarzan swing if you so dare.
The young men who were our guides were very patient, kind and well trained. I always felt safe and it...
