Samograd Bay — Local services in Grad Korčula

First, let me say that the beach is beautiful. Not crowded, and quite long and spacious, with spots of natural shade. Water is crystal clear. But, that is all fine and that's not the reason why I'm giving it a review.

Just wanted to give a huge heads up to anyone interested in coming here - do not, and i repeat DO NOT by any chance try to come here from Babina direction (from west to east), only come from the opposite direction, coming from Korcula town, however longer that trip might be for you.

Because, if you choose to disregard this advice and indeed try to come from the west (with a non-SUV vehicle, at least), be prepared for an 8km of extremely narrow and stressful off-road driving experience, where you will definitely not only scratch your car from the sides, but most probably also have a lot of very intimate encounters with rocks from the underside. So, if that's something you enjoy, by all means go...

Amazing secluded location BUT PLEASE TAKE YOUR OWN RUBBISH HOME!! This is a beach only - there are no toilets, no bins & no cafe. Please treat it like the idyllic and natural place that it is! However, if you’re an adventurous driver, you can only get here by dirt track (can’t really call it a road) & then it’s a 5 min hike to the beach via another dirt track. Great place for snorkelling. I filled a massive bin bag of rubbish at this location (see picture) because I heard some people complain in the reviews there was rubbish which there was. I think some rubbish had been washed up by the sea but other detritus had clearly been left by stupid tourists who have no respect. If we all took a little bit home, this would be a...

Friendly warning: please do not go from Babina side. The road is terrible for 8km and you will end up damaging your parts and/or scratching your car. Do yourself a favor and go from Korcula Old Town direction, regardless of how much time it might take you (even if you’re coming from Vela Luka).

The beach is awesome and totally worth the visit. Secluded, just a few people. Make sure to bring drinks and food as there is no bar...
