I’ve been going on about 5 trips with Rockbusters over the last 4 years, and I would absolutely recommend it. There are a lot of things that make those trips great, but to me, I would highlight just two things:
It’s incredibly convenient: yes, you can organise a trip with friends, but then you must spend so much time coordinating, finding the right place, the accommodation, the crags, the nice routes, etc. When going with Rockbusters all I need is to shoot a message to Jan (the owner and main coach of Rockbuster) to figure out where he is in any given week. I then book my flight, pack a small backpack with my shoes & harness and the next thing I know, I’m on top of a route in one of Europe’s best crags working at my hardest level. No need to worry about accommodations, topos, or transport. I can climb in the world’s best crag on any week that is free in my calendar.
You’re gonna be working at your max level: if you’re stuck at a certain grade or your mind is holding you back, I find those trips really help. Once again, when I go climb with friends, I tend to work at a much lower level than my max. When I go climbing with Rockbusters I always get psyched and push at my hardest limit. Each time I come for a new trip, I push my grade a little further. When I started with Jan I did my first 6C outdoor a few years ago; during my last trip, I did my first 7B+.
a) If you’re looking for some kind of hyper-structured coaching, this is not what you gonna get here. But the coaches here will always be pushing you at your hardest level. Best is not to think. Just let Jan point you to an amazing route at your max level, put the draws for you, and then shout at you until you clip the anchor. 😆
b) It’s also incredibly motivating. During my last trip in Rodellar, I hung out with Anak Verhoeven and had dinner with Dave Graham and Alizee Dufraisse. Even though I was leaving the next day at 09:00 AM they motivated me to get up at 06:30 to give a last go on my project! It didn’t work 😅, but now I’m even more psyched to train harder and get stronger! 🔥🔥🔥
To keep it short, if you like climbing outdoors and want to push at your hardest level & get psyched, this is definitely the right...
Read moreMy first trip with Rockbusters (to Zillertal, Austria) exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait for the next one. ✨️
It's hard to put in words how unique and memorable this experience is, but if the following applies to you, you'll likely love it as much as I did:
Love climbing. This one is kind of obvious. What really made this trip stand out for me is that, as someone mentioned in a different review, it isn't super structured. It felt like a trip with friends, only some of those friends are excellent mentors, too. You can climb as hard as you want to, and rest as much as you need to. There is no schedule. The Rockbusters coaches will be there to motivate you to reach your potential, give you tips, and, if required, to set up and clean routes you project.
Love meeting new people. You'll join a group of climbers from all over the world, and you all might be climbing different grades. But at the end of the day, you'll all cheer on each other, and share laughs over beers.
Love traveling, but could do without the hassle of planning logistics. I just needed to arrive to the designated airport, and Rockbusters had it covered from there. Considering that a lot of crags are located in rural areas, and locals may not always speak English, this is a game changer.
Thank you...
Read moreI joined the Rockbusters trip to Spain, Margalef, for one week. I regret that I planned it too short, wish I had booked it at least for 2 weeks, as it was a pity to leave the fun trip. I have tried a couple of other outdoor climbing trips before with other companies. Amongst all, Rockbusters is unique in its authenticity. Less like a business, it is more like you are joining a group of enthusiastic rock climbers trip throughout Europe, with one of them being the most experienced climber/coach/guide. The interaction is very genuine, and humanic, but also very informative as the coach, Jany, is a very experienced climber. I felt very supported by him for my willpower to rock climb, though I was relatively new to outdoor climbing. Also, I met Sariah, another coach in the program, who gave very specific and detailed coaching that I greatly appreciated. Regarding the group, I had a group of people who were of different ages/cultures but we all shared a passion for climbing that made a great connection. Additionally, I saw a lot of prior travelers coming back, which means people liked their prior experience with Rockbusters. Overall, I can't wait to have another trip with Rockbusters and continue to improve my outdoor climbing skills along with the...
