Cafe, Restaurant & Steakhouse Amalie — Local services in Thisted Municipality

So this is has been one of our go to restaurants, due to the location. The food is usually really good and the kitchen staff, management staff are lovely. However, that leaves the waiters and waitresses. Unfortunately many of them have a very condescending attitude, they’re very short with you and you can hardly get a smile from a lot of them. Last time we were there we ordered a dish, and three things were missing. I went to the waitress and asked, she went to the kitchen and came back and said they’re out. Which fine, that can happen. However I wanted to know why she didn’t tell us before ordering so we could have ordered something else. I quote what she said: “I’m just a waitress I don’t know what’s going on back there”. Which is, part of the job. We did not get an apology and just paid and left, paid full price for a 70% of the meal we ordered. If you want slightly better service this is not the place.

Bordet havde tydeligt fedtede pletter og krummer, til trods for vi ankom lige til åbning. Bestikket på bordet var beskidt, vi bad pænt om at få noget nyt, den unge pige blev tydeligt meget fornærmet. Hun kom med en ny omgang bestik, men alt det ny, var også beskidt, da jeg nævnte det, svarede hun meget hårdt og surt at det vidste hun godt, at jeg behøvede ikke kommentere på det. 3 gang var lykkens gang med rent bestik, at det så stadig var vådt fra vask, er nok bare en detalje.

Vi bad om en glutenfri bolle med ost, men vigtigt at bollen ikke blev skåret over, så vi var sikre på der ikke kom gluten fra en anden bolle på den glutenfri. Den ikke smilende unge pige kom med en tallerken med et helt fladt brød uden nogen former for pålæg, vi andre afventede stadig vores brød. Efter ca 10 min kom hun og hentede brødet, da det slet ikke var glutenfri og var leveret til den forkerte gæst. Da den glutenfri bolle ankom, var den skåret over, som jo var lovet at den ikke blev.

Må sige at den sure, næsvise og meget arrogante servering, de beskidte borde og bestik ikke gav det bedste indtryk. Her har vi ikke lyst...

This place is fantastic! No less. I have been to a lot of steakhouses around the world. They know what they are working with at Amalies. Great service from staff, cosy atmosphere - and most importantly - well prepared meat in solid quality. Grilled over flaming coal and served with a smile and local craft beer. Definitely...
