The reserve covers a volcano caldera that has been inactive for centuries. The overlooks provide breathtaking views down into the community below. The floor is a very productive farming community that is green and fertile while the area at the entrance is dry and dusty. You need to go early in the day as the geographic configuration causes on many days a nice fog and clouds to settle in after noon.
The trail down is fairly steep and it would be a long trek to the floor of the caldera and back up and if you are not acclimated to the altitude it would be a struggle coming back up the trail even with the well placed benches.
