Absolutely THE best musem in Tallinn. The collection of old arms is huge. The musem takes you on a trip through the millitary conflicts that has taken place on Estonian soil through the ages. Russian, Swedish, German, Polish and Danish invasions. Lot of cool displays of old crusader castles, banners and big maps on the wall. Everyone who loves history loves maps so that is a great plus. A big section covering the first world war and the fight for independence in the aftermath. Everything with signs in English. Authentic posters from the era of which you can buy copies of in the giftshop. A very nice section about the Estonian volunteers who fought in vain to stop the communist hordes that washed over Europe in 1944-45. The only thing that could have made it better is if there were some books in English in...

An excellently curated museum focused on the wars/conflicts affecting the area of Estonia and around about, from the Vikings to today. There is the option to superficially scan the exhibits or spend time reading the more detailed write ups which are in Russian, Estonian and English. There is also a nice audio guide for the smart phone that works well (well it did on mine). On the ground floor there is also an audio visual display (again in various languages) that gives you a synopsis of the four historic periods of conflict in the Estonian region. There is also a nice display of military kit from clubs to modern day...

Probably one of the most informative war museums I have ever visited - and I'm a history buff that spends my vacations visiting museums ;-) TBH, I think that several of the museums in Tallinn give a somewhat one-dimensional account of history, but this one seems fairly unbiased to me - you get the entire national experience from 12th century to the Cold war with a focus on megatrends and great power politics incl the d1rty laundry regarding relations to Soviet and Germany that most museum will hide. If you don't visit that museum you're just a Tourist rather than a...

A thoroughly interesting museum, covering Estonian military history and other conflicts further afield. Even for those not particularly interested in military history, plenty of the displays had entry level information, with more detailed information for those more versed in the subject. Can get to the museum with two bus connections from the city centre, which was easy enough. The main museum is located where it says, but they also have a second part with vehicle displays nearby. It's under ten minutes up the hill with a slight incline.

Such a great experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the museum informative and easy to follow. The items displayed were interesting and the overall experience just magnificent. I recommend this museum to everyone, I myself took a foreign friend there to introduce him to our history and the museum left a great impression to him.
