Nawi Island — Local services in Northern

We just had a wonderful experience at the Nawi Island Marina — from our arrival to our departure. When we arrived we were greeted by one of the marina’s inflatable ribs that escorted us to our slip on a concrete floating dock. As we approached the slip there were no fewer that 4 deckhands there to help us tie on. Once successfully tied on we went to the office and we were greeted by the gracious and efficient Grace. In addition to registering us she helped us secure an electrician to repair our windlass, a diver to clean our hull and grease our prop and one of the marina’s staff members to assist us with some odd chores. Everyone was prompt, competent, conscientious and warm. In less than 2 days we had our non functioning windlass repaired and our bottom cleaned. They also delivered 50 gallons of diesel fuel right to our boat on very short notice so we could leave the next morning. Though we planned to depart before business hours Grace let us know that the marina’s 24/7 security staff would assist us casting off if we needed help. Aside from the wonderful hospitality, service and work, the facilities are beautiful. The over-sized spa-like shower rooms, each with their own large vanity, sink and toilet and filled with plenty of hooks and bars for clothing and towels, are the nicest we’ve seen since we visited Sandy Lane Yacht Club on Canouan in the Grenadines. They were nicer than some of the bathrooms in nice hotels we have visited. Finally, they offer a complementary water taxi to town that runs until 9 pm in the evening on the hour. All around a terrific experience! We are grateful to the marina for the many courtesies extended to us during our stay and would definitely plan to come back if our sailing adventures bring us back to Fiji....

Very nice marina with accommodations. They are still completing it, but it is open. Super nice staff. We had a good pizza at the restaurant. There is a small store with basic items. The only recommendation I have is to add sufficient washers and dryers. There are 2 of each. 1 washer is full size, and the other is compact. Both dryers are compact. If you’re in Savusavu make sure to check out Nawai Island. It’s a 2 min boat ride over FJD$5. Once you get there you can use the pool ( towels shower etc services provided). The food quality is fantastic and awesome cocktails and mocktails. if you have any special requests, they can make it for you. Really lovely day out.
