The best restaurant in Savusavu. The neat thing about the Surf n Turf is it manages to be both upscale and tropical casual at the same time, and you can eat here expensively or quite moderately depending on what you choose. It could be a burger and beer at lunch or a candlelit steak dinner.
You enter the restaurant from the main street but go down a hall to find the entry, and then the dining area sits on a covered deck by the water. It’s really a lovely place. We have a couple of favorite dishes here: kokoda, the Fijian version of poisson cru (raw cut up raw fish and vegetables in lime juice and coconut milk) and the Salad Nicoise with big chunks of seared tuna. They don’t always have that salad; but they frequently do. They have specials on their board, and some of them are fabulous. A frequent special is a fish in an orange sauce...
Read moreMe and my gorgeous partner (we've just met in Fiji and are soon to be married) had a stunning meaty meal. It started off extremely strong with the kokonda (raw fish in coconut, spices and veggies. This was when I decided, it was time to propose because the fish was so fresh, if I left it any longer I would cry. After came the red snapper curry which was phenomenal. We literally were brimming with joy from first bite. By the way, she also said yes to the ring!! Third was the surf and turn. I personally wouldn't get it again but it was quickly prepared and nicely plated. Lastly the coconut creme brulee is a must have. Do not even think about sharing, I saw a couple fight over this, you're better than that. If you love yourself, please treat yourself to this restaurant. My partner and I have been married...
Read moreThe food was ridiculously over priced, the woman who seemed to be running the place refused to remove French fries off the bill when I told her they were not good an we didnt want them (totally under cooked) and then when my meal I ordered was unavailable and she said they could substitute the crab for a seafood mix (seafood mix = mostly whitefish and a tiny tiny little bit of lobster). I was charged an extra 10 dollars without being told. It ended up being $75 for two little seafood crepes and 2 glasses of wine. My sister in law paid $49 dollars for 2 gin and tonics! We laughed all the way home to keep from crying. Never going back. The place is by the water but so is everything so whoop-de-doo. Nothing fancy about this place. Save your money...
