In a funny way, this is probably the best store in the Helsinki area, and I do not say this lightly. It all comes down to selection and price point. Comparatively speaking, Helsinki is a city that is notoriously expensive with very limited selections on every genre of product. As an international person who has lived in numerous western metropolises, I have often found the shopping situation in Helsinki particularly oppressive, conservative and prohibitively expensive to the point that only the wealthy are entitled to have real options and quality. That's is where this place comes in, and relates to why it's the best. It is a giant second hand store, so there are times when you will not find anything that appeals to you. But visit once a month, and you will discover that this is the best place to find unique items at a great price. Give it time and you can furnish your whole place from this place, and your place will look pretty special and wondrous. The prices that they ask are absolutely fair, and the stuff moves quickly, always ensuring a fresh array of items. This particular location is probably the best in that it has such a wide selection. They have a great furniture selection and often have pretty decent electronics. This is a great place to find a quality, modern large flatscreen TV for 100 bucks, or a new sofa for 80. They also have antiques at great prices, so you can find pretty cool vintage items that would cost 10 times as much at a local antique store. What I really like about this place is that it opens up creative and quality options for people who aren't rich: A store for the people. Also, everything is recycled and the staff is really friendly. They will deliver in the Helsinki area for only 40 bucks. There are not enough places that have this kind of mentality of quality, uniqueness and affordability for all, so I rank this place...

Items in Kierrätyskeskus used to be affordable and, e.g. as a student I could afford having furniture, because you could buy it from a recycling center for like 10€. Nowadays prices are comparable to those of new items, even more expensive in some cases.

For example, I saw a beautiful ad on Facebook from Kierrätyskeskus, they promoted several items including a set of Ikea glasses. The prices looked too high, out of curiosity I decided to check the glasses cost in IKEA. It was cheaper to buy it new from IKEA! 😲 The Kierrätyskeskus ad had more pictures of the glasses and from different angles, than Ikea page.

Also if you buy it from IKEA, they have 365 days return policy, if you don't open the item, changed your mind, simply return it. You cannot do it with an item bought from here.

I would assume that they spend a lot of labor resources photographing items, making ads also paying for ads, that they have to set high prices for the second-hand items they sell. But if you buy a new item from a shop you have also a warranty and a return policy. Is there such in kierrätyskeskus?

After visiting and checking the prices on a spot as well, I don't have much desire to shop here.

The advantage of this place is many categories of household items: clothes, books, handy-craft, sport equipment, electronics, kitchen supplies, furniture, toys etc. Maybe it make sense to buy some items here, but you really need to do your research and compare prices for an item you find here with prices in stores for the same...

Basis my personal experience, first of all, it's costly compared to the other forums for used products. 2ndly they are extremely rigid in terms of customer service or processes. I bought a bed from them and opted for the Postii delivery through them. The bed was sent dismantled so my obvious expectation as a customer is that they would assemble it for me after delivery. I had even clarified that while buying. But To my surprise, the delivery folks didnot get any assembling tools with them. Instead they asked me to arrange it from neighbors or anywhere else they cannot help in assembling. So I had to go knocking the neighbors' doors (needless to say I didnot know anyone because I had just shifted on the same day). Thankfully one kind neighbor had the necessary tools and lent it to me..even then the delivery guys didnot fix it properly. Now everyitme I sleep on the bed, one or the other wooden plank just comes off the placement and slides down creating a huge gap..so the quality of the bed is extremely poor but price was very high. Unfortunately I was new so wasn't aware of the dynamics..now I am stuck with this bed :(

My recommendation, be very cautious while buying big furniture from them..check properly and buy but before that do your research on the typical prices..because hands down, this store is very expensive and quality isn't...

Absolutely huge warehouse-like space with a vast assortment of second-hand things -- from handmade wall art & home décor to bikes & trinkets to couches, beds, shelving units to toys, construction equipment, suitcases & random home wares (even a small box of new tampons!). Everything clean & well-organized. A few highlights that really stood out: 1. At the entrance there's a separate small room to the right where you can sort through gigantic boxes of free stuff, books & clothing. Anything you find you can take for free. Great for parents of little kids. 2. They have an in-house repair shop for fixing up & transforming select pieces of vintage clothing to put out for sale, including a whole rack of super unique jumpers & sweaters. Wonderful concept that breathes new life into vintage things! 3. Plenty of bulk supplies for handicrafts, sewing, creating your own clothes, scrapbooking & other projects: leather scraps, buttons, lace trims, doilies, paper packets, patches, etc. Admittedly some of the furnishings were on the pricey side for being used, but overall great experience. Give yourself ample time here (like multiple hours) because it's sure to be an adventure!

A big second hand store where you can find all kinds of furniture, books, ceramics, clothing, electronics and arts. It's fun to come here to spend some time looking at all the facinating stuff for sale. Be aware that some of the items can be pretty ridiculously priced, for example the Lundia pieces which can be found elsewhere for much cheaper. There is a -20% discount for students. It is also possible to donate stuff that you do not need anymore, this includes basically anything that has some value.
