The best reindeer farm I've been to. Only a short drive from Rovaniemi and you get an absolutely delightful, friendly staff, very nice surroundings and all and all a lovely, personal experience. Our guide Jukka was very understanding, wise and knew how to engage with our group of me (a Finn), my English fiancee and our German friend who all had a different amount of knowledge about reindeer and local life to begin with. We had a private guided tour, fed the lovely reindeer and the girls went for a reindeer ride, all very reasonably priced. All the staff was friendly and in good spirits and the whole visit in this beautiful, Laplands oldest reindeer farm was exactly what we wanted. Afterwards we had coffee and some biscuits and a nice chat in their cosy restaurant by the fireplace and left happy with great memories and of course loads of pictures.
Todella hieno, Lapin vanhin porofarmi ihan Rovaniemen kupeessa. Miljöö viehättävä, henkilökunta todella mukavaa ja sekä faktaa että tarinoita riittää. Erittäin kohtuuhintainen, rauhallinen paikka jossa ystävällinen ote tekemiseen ja vierailija...
Read moreIf you don't see this reindeer farm, you don't see anything in Rovaniemi. It's the first and oldest reindeer farm, absolute amazing and traditional Lappish buildings. You can see the years passing by to the more of them. The ceremonies are something between mysterious and amazing and the traditional Shaman is wonderful. The reindeer are so friendly animals, and the owner of the farm respect them as humans and loves them. She is - if i remember right, the third generation that works this farm and feels like belongs to this place. All of the staff can transfer to you the respect of the nature. The prices aren't to high and are very normal, and cheap if you compare them with other facilities. It food was tastefully and as i could saw the kitchen was absolute clean. I saw also winter photos of the area, and i will go also at winter, but i believe off season...
Read moreThe pros : nice location inside the Finnish forest The cons : poor signage. After parking on the main road, we had to guess how to get to the actual farm by following other groups. When arriving on site and close to the reindeer, I was first mistaken for being the leader of the group. Once I clarified that I was a “walk-in” trying my luck to visit the farm, I was rudely turned down, explained that I shouldn’t touch the reindeer, and that I had no right to be in that location without a booking. Staff added that no booking was available for several...
