Grotte de Thouzon — Local services in Avignon

A nice cave, but a relatively boring experience for those not fluent in French. Positive points: The price of 11 euro's is not very high. The cave itself is pretty, especially the last part in which a light show is included. Although the guides speak only French, a brief translation of the cave highlights can be obtained in other languages when you obtain your tickets (considerate!). Point for improvement: The tour takes roughly 50 minutes, of which most is spent listening to the guide's uncompromising high tempo French - I guess there is plenty to tell and it sounded enthusiastic, but it was too fast to follow for someone at basic level French. This meant we spent 5 to 10 minutes waiting at every point, after having read 1 paragraph of text (not even always sure if it was the right one). Practical: The cave temperature of 13 degrees was not too cold for us in our shorts and t-shirts. No hiking shoes required. Ample parking on the premises. A small gift shop included at the entrance. Nous avons effectué une visite guidée de la grotte. Certes, la grotte est en soi exceptionnelle pour les citadins que nous sommes, non coutumiers de tels endroits. Ce qui a fait la différence est l'excellence de notre guide, la petite dame aux yeux bleus ( la petite chauve souris 😁) Très didactique au savoir encyclopédique, son intervention a été pour le néophyte que je suis un précis de spéléologie, adapté au lieu avec des anecdotes propres à la grotte. Il faut un certain bagage scientifique pour pouvoir comprendre toutes les précieuses informations fournies. Même sans l'entière compréhension de l'exposé, il s'agit d'une superbe visite guidée à absolument faire si vous êtes dans le coin.
