Marché agricole de Velleron — Local services in Avignon

This is the local area's farmers' market, and well worth the visit if you can use fresh produce directly. During the "summer" (April 1st - September 30th) the market takes place every evening (except Sundays and holidays) from 6-8 p.m., during the "winter" on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4.30 onwards. Most of the farmers here are selling produce harvested that day, often excellent things that might not be exactly the right shape or colour for the supermarkets, but great value fruit or vegetables for the consumer. Ce marché agricole est une institution dans la région de Velleron sur la route de Cavaillon à Monteux. Initialement les agriculteurs vendaient leurs fruits ou légumes qui n'avaient pas trouvé preneur au MIN, Marché de gros de Cavaillon. Situé à mi chemin entre les deux villes les tomates se vendaient au cageot ainsi que les melons les salades, les pommes, les abricots, les pêches... etc a l'arrière des camions sur le bord de la route. Maintenant c'est plus organisé mais c'est toujours la production des agriculteurs locaux. Aujourd'hui, fraises, asperges, salades et toutes sortes de produits locaux vous tendent leurs petits bras!, sans oublier la buvette qui vous accueille avec le sourire et le marchand de frites qui vous aide à combler un petit creux avant que vous ne retourniez jouer aux boules sous les arbres !
