We took the slightly trickier but worthwhile route via the Fort. Take the path that runs around the front of the fort that leads generally east through the forest. This descends gradually before emerging into a boulder strewn slope. Cross this maintaining your altitude and into more woods. Follow the sound of the waterfalls and you emerge around 2/3 of the way up the waterfall system. This is worth it as you will find some quieter pools that you may have to yourself. One or two are deep enough to bathe (but not big enough to swim) in. It is peaceful, other than the white noise of the water and on a sunny day it is blissful, idyllic and a delightful sun trap. Be careful which ‘road’ you are taking as we started from the parking indicated by Google map that goes through an old castle (Le Fort de Vaux) and this ‘road’ needs some equipment like very good shoes. We did it with a 6 years old, but I will suggest to start from the ‘Acrobranche’ park where another road start. A last comment on the amount of water in the cascade that seems to be a bit small … climate change first...
