During my trip to North Georgia, I had the pleasure of visiting the Zhinvali Dam, and it was truly a remarkable experience! This dam is a stunning example of Soviet-era engineering and architecture, standing tall and proud amidst the picturesque landscape of the Caucasus Mountains.

The sheer size and scale of the dam are impressive, and the views over the Zhinvali Reservoir are nothing short of spectacular. The turquoise waters of the reservoir, set against the backdrop of lush green hills and towering mountains, create a mesmerizing scene that’s perfect for photography.

Zhinvali (Jinvali) water reservoir, also known as a lake is located on the Georgian Military Highway. Soviets constructed the dam in the 1980s. As Tbilisi was growing rapidly, there was a need of a new water supply. Government decided that the Aragvi Gorge rich with glacier water was the perfect spot. It is a very beautiful place now. Breathtaking amazing views of reservoir. You can book one day trip from Tibilisi to Kazbegi it will cover this place as well.
