Rainy day in November 2pm, i wanted to hitchhike so i came here to catch the city bus n. 18, 20, 26 and get to the Rike village intersection, a smart hitchhike starting point to Svaneti - check Yandex Maps. But somehow i missed it and they run once in 30 or 60 minutes, so it would be a hour wait to avoid the rain. The minibus to Mestia-Ushguli was waiting. I jumped in. The minibus moved to the train station at 2:30pm, waited the late train from Tbilisi which apparently didn't bring any transferring passenger to Svaneti, left at 3:15 and came back here to the Bus stop Mestia. The lady asked me 40lari, so i told her internet information says 35lari, she accepted. We arrived to Mestia at 6, snow just stopped. Some passengers came in from the villages. The minibus didn't go to Ushguli, after dropping us he drove across the street of "House in Mestia" guesthouse which i chose as the cheapest in town

Read moreThis is the bus stop to mestia, they will usually also drive past the train station for people coming from the train. The buses have kind of departure times, in my case it was supposed to leave around 15:00 but might leave earlier when full.
If you take this way of traveling just be prepared for a very long ride depending on the driver and state of the car, it can take up to 6 hours from zugdidi to mestia. (Our driver also took a long lunch/dinner break, passed his house etc.). If you want more comfort consider getting a taxi. No seatbelts.
