If you visit Corfu, you MUST visit Mount Pantokrator for a unique breathtaking experience. The ascent to the summit on mopeds was fun, there are coach tours that visit too. If you’re planning on hiking up then take plenty of fluids with you on a hot day as there are very limited villages. The views from the summit are stunning. Views across to Albania and mainland Greece. On a clear day the coast of Italy is also visible. The monastery highlights the simplistic lifestyle lived during this era and the beautiful interior that still serves for prayers and thankfulness. The cafe was very busy even at 11am and a crystal clear day that guaranteed many visitors. Outside seating as well as inside, a great choice of cakes and freshly made savouries, hot drinks and ice cold cans. We opted to sit outside and admire the view shared by the cats of Corfu. A memorable moment. The aerials and telecommunication tower kind of adds a blend of future and past and worth a walk to the rear of the masts for another iconic view of the coast. BEAUTIFUL. 10/10

Nestled atop Mount Pantokrator lies an absolute gem – a sanctuary of serenity and natural beauty. The breathtaking view from this vantage point is nothing short of divine; it's as if you're gazing upon the gates of heaven itself. The monastery perched at the summit offers an unparalleled sense of tranquility. Amidst the silence, one can truly connect with both the spiritual realm and the splendor of nature. It's a place where the soul finds solace and the mind finds clarity. If you seek a refuge from the chaos of everyday life and a chance to commune with both God and nature, Mount Pantokrator's monastery is an absolute must-visit. You'll leave feeling rejuvenated, enriched, and infinitely grateful for the experience.

Mount Pantokrator is the highest mountain on the island of Corfu, standing at 906 meters (2,972 feet) above sea level. Located in the northeastern part of the island, it offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Ionian Islands. On a clear day, you can see all of Corfu, much of the Greek mainland, the Albanian coast just across the channel, and even southern Italy on the far horizon.

The name “Pantokrator” means “Almighty” in Greek, and it reflects the traditional religious significance of the site. At the summit, you’ll find not only the Monastery of Pantokrator but also various communication towers that underline the strategic importance of the peak.

The mountain is a popular destination for hikers and travelers looking for a mix of natural beauty, history, and culture. You can reach the summit by road, which winds through charming villages like Strinylas, or by hiking trails—one of the most scenic being from the old village of Perithia, which offers a more immersive experience through olive groves and rugged terrain.

Whether you drive or hike, visiting Mount Pantokrator rewards you with stunning views and a sense of connection to Corfu’s rich landscape...

The drive was manageable but the roads were very narrow, so perfect for a smaller rental car especially as there were a lot of turns to get there. It’s a beautiful spot at the top of the hill as you get a 360° view of the area. The cafe up here is great, I had a strawberry sorbet which was nice, I also found it quite unusual that Fanta in Greece is sold in glass bottles! A random little detail but it’s different to what most people in the UK and other countries may have. Behind the cafe, there was a monastery which was beautiful, the insects were stunning- even got to see a huge grasshopper. There’s a little fountain, and the monastery itself has lovely architecture. In the gift shop, you can only pay by cash which was a shame however, we were trusted to drive down to the city and pay there (which we of course did). So that was very lovely to see, that some people have...
