Setting prices at will; one price on WhatsApp, another on the San Pedro Sula ticket station, and a much higher one from the bus driver in the Morales bus stop. They definitely were taking advantage. The bus from Honduras to Morales was ok, reasonably comfortable, but the one from Morales to Petén was terrible; old, dirty, weak/bad AC, and super slow, it took 7h to finally get to the destination, and showing all sorts of signs of mechanical malfunction. Read moreI booked a ticket with Fuente Del Norte 10 minutes before bus departure. The ticket price from Flores to Morales, Izabel was supposed to be 150Q. When I purchased at the counter they quoted 200Q, cash only.
I challenged and stated I was at the station yesterday and was quoted 150Q for the route. The ticketing office quickly relented and I paid the 150Q.
Luckily I speak passable Spanish or I would have been dooped and the employee would have pocketed the difference. I understand wages are low at 3900Q a month for employees but that is just straight up dishonest trying to charge a 'gringo price'

The trip itself was actually way better then expected. The bus was clean, the seats really good and declined a very good amount. All the charging ports around us were not working though.
