I loath to review this hotel as I received some real kindness at this hotel. ||I will start with the pros.||The room was clean||The air con worked||The beds were comfortable.||The hotel was safe.||You could go out at night and get let in again.||They knew we were coming.||There were no bugs or nasties in our rooms.||Near to the air port||Let us check out very late at no extra cost.||Wifi worked (just no one knew the password)||||now the cons.||No water in the tap for the sink.||No hot water in showers and a trickle of cold.||The toilet flooded in our room||The common areas were filthy with the bin in the toilet over flowing with tissues with fecal waste.||The tour that I had booked at Tikal had not been logged and it was a 90 minute battle to get it and a transfer sorted. It was like walking into a dentist and trying to buy a car ? Eventually the kind and charming owner and her husband sorted it out for me and also promised breakfast in the morning but this hotel does not deliver as advertised and this is pretty unreliable. They have got their branding and web presence well established - they need to translate this in to some sort of service and some amenities.||The restaurant on the web site was closed and the pictures of the common parts is bordering on a misrepresentation. It was pretty derelict and even the drinks machine was empty and broken.||You have to get a cab to Flores there is literally nothing nearby so not to offer breakfast is a disservice to guests.||||Anyway I experienced real kindness and the kitchen was opened at the promised time and we did get some breakfast and coffee and our tour was organised (and amazing) - I have reviewed this elsewhere but you need to be very sure your trip has been booked, the cost of the transfer and services available before you book.||Could be lovely. Nice people. Near to the air port. can organise tours and a shuttle to the tour.||||I had a feeling that this very low level of service was a one off but even so this can not excuse the state of the plumbing, the state of the lobby and toilet and the lack...
Read moreWe absolutely loved our stay here. Paid just Usd 24/night including tax. Just walked in. No reservation. So comfortable and quiet at night. Ac was quiet and timer worked.||Room was fairly clean. Showers and water pressure was very poor. No hot water. But it was so hot out that it did not matter. ||There were 2 beds in each of our rooms, with the private bathroom, Flat screen TV, and new style wash basin.||It is a 20 minute walk to Flores, or a Q5 tuk tuk ride (per person). If traveling in or between santa elena and flores by tuk tuk, just get in, give destination, maybe some small talk, and give driver Q5 per person when leaving. Easy.||We loved how quiet and cool (Ac) this place was for the reasonable price. Having a private room was great too. We had stayed in hostels private rooms worse than here in other places in Guatemala. ||We would definitely return here on our next visit to Flores, Peten.||It is also extremely convenient to the airport. As we travelled light we walked to the main road at 6 am (1 block away), where we flagged down a collectivo (old minivan) (half full of locals going to work) that let us off across the street from the aiport for each Q2! Awesome! ||We arrived by bus and paid an exhoribitant Q40 to get here. And the taxi driver got lost. At least we got a bit of a tour of Santa elena and flores. Flores is soo noisy at night. We were happy to have found a quiet place to sleep. Tuk tuks are common around the hotel, or by walking a...
Read moreI have traveled throughout South & Central America for almost 20 years and have stayed in worse conditions. That however was when I served with the military and didn't have to pay. I would not recommend this hotel unless there is absolutely no where else to go. The conditions are very basic and tidy but not convinced about the cleanliness. Our beds were very bad and the internet service was inoperable in the room. The receptionist was less than friendly and the guard/bell boy somewhat threatening although helpful. The restaurant staff was very friendly and the coffee good. Haven't tried the breakfast yet....
