KIRTADS is a distinct Directorate that works under the Ministry of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development. The organization's major goal is to do research that will aid in the development of Kerala's Scheduled Communities. It also tries to identify the requirements and challenges that the marginalised community faces, as well as make recommendations to the government in order to find a solution to their overall development. This was founded on a national scale in 1972 as the Tribal Research and Training Centre (TR & TC), which was then renamed KIRTADS in 1979 and is currently aiming to develop all scheduled communities. The Kerala Institute for Research, Training, and Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Tribes (KIRTADS) is a non-profit organisation that conducts research, training, and development studies for Scheduled Castes and Tribes in Kerala.

KIRTADS Ethnological Museum at Calicut is an amazing place to visit if one is interested to know about the Tribals of Kerala. The articles on display are original items acquired directly from the Tribal communities of Kerala. Mr Nelson, the Museum curator who accompanied us through all the 3 floors is very knowledgeable and patiently explained everything and also answered our queries. I really suggest the Government should give more publicity and create more awareness among the public of our brethren.

Kirtads is a museum maintained by the Government of Kerala. The museum exhibits many tools and devices of the tribal communities of Kerala. The campus also has a good library with books on anthropology and sociology. The centre also conducts seminars and research projects on tribal topics.

Kirtads is purely a governmental organization under the Scheduled castes and Scheduled tribes Development ministry and functions as a separate Directorate. Its main objective is to carry out research that helps to promote development among the scheduled communities in Kerala. It also attempts to identify the needs and problems confronting the marginalized section of the population and suggest recommendations to the government in finding a panacea for their overall development. This was established in the year 1972 as Tribal Research and Training centre (TR & TC) in a national pattern, which is subsequently got recognized as KIRTADS in 1979 and is working among all the scheduled communities for...
