I would like to praise our safari guide Syadiah, for bringing us on a wonderful guided safari tour. We are amazed with her professionalism, knowledgeable and kindness towards the animals.
Our safari guided tour took around 1hour 10mins (slightly shorter compared to others) because the weather was extremely hot causing certain animals to be unactive/sleepy which I don't blame them, as the safari is fully exposed under the hot sun. Mainly just 'touch and go' at each animal spots.
Same as other reviews - I've got mixed feelings of the animals' wellbeing towards the end of the trip as most animals we fed seem very hungry (mainly the deers); and that the safari management keeps hard-selling the animal feeding, buggy transport services, hats, umbrellas, ice creams etc, upon extra charges (our tourist ticket entrance is already quite costly). We received side eye treatments when we kindly decline as we came very well-prepared. We (2pax) don't need a buggy to drive and stop and drive and stop at all the animal stops as the safari is our FIRST destination on our first day in Bintan.
Overall it is recommended to individuals that are energetic and able to walk around the open air safari concept that is under the scorching sun to experience the unique tour. Eventhough we went around 10am, it was still very hot. Come prepared with your own water, sunblock, mosquito repellent, umbrella, long...
Read moreI don’t know what I expect from a zoo, seeing big birds like eagles and vulture in such tiny cages is so disturbingly unnatural. The only two tigers are so skinny you can even notice it from the other side of smudged glass barrier. Did you know how otters have their favorite rocks to help it open its food? The otter I saw was somehow kept between two reptile cages with the same exact condition; concrete walls, small space, no running water, and again dirty glass barrier. It has no time worrying about having a favorite rock since it’s being kept in a cage far from its supposed habibat. All it does was just making depressing noises and going around in circles possibly all day. I also don’t understand the need to chain up one of the elephants near the entrance so the visitors could always see it. Aren’t they magnificently intelligent animal that supposed to be able to roam free? It was not entertaining at all to see it playing by itself (yes, it showers itself with hay when it realized we looked at it and even struck a little pose when I took its picture) the zookepeers are all friendly and tried to initiate convos and can’t be the ones to blame for this. I believe they’re equally in need of a better management...
Read moreNot the best safari out there, but good for something (fairly) cheap and short, especially for young children. My kid loved it and enjoyed the opportunity to get up close to the animals.
Cost 150k per person for entry (free for kids below 3), 350k for feeding and 500k for buggy. I took the buggy service and feeding, which was good as the buggy driver shared and introduced each animal at the various points. he was really friendly too. Possible to do without the buggy if you want to save money too as it's not a big area, albeit with a bit of ups and downs
Could feed rabbits, ostrich, crocodile, tortoise, sunbears, fish, orang utan and elephants, which I found quite worth it for 350k.
Time wise, I took 1.5hrs as my kid wanted to play more, but can be finished in an hour.
Overall, fun experience especially for young ones. Would recommend if its for the kids or to pass time as...
