The entertainment scene in Erbil, Kurdistan is dramatically growing and expanding. Every time I travel for one month or so and come back to Erbil, I just feel like landing in a new city. Residential and commercial projects mushrooming in various parts of the city. The entertainment sector is slowly but surely taking its share of the pie, creating new venues for people who love to spend time out during the day or night. Recently, Empire Cinemas opened their doors in Erbil at Family Mall, a highly visited mall with an amazing daily foot-fall, adding an important option to the "things-to-do-in-Erbil" list.
The Empire Cinemas Erbil screens the latest blockbusters and 3D movies, via all new state-of-the-art digital equipment. Empire Cinemas Erbil feature a variety of movies from Hollywood to Bollywood; Turkish to Arabic (Egyptian/Lebanese) movies. with a total seating capacity of approximately 2400 seats. VIP sections are available, adding more comfort and space. Elevated stairs-like seating make the screening halls more attractive to movie goers as it gives them better visibility and un-obstructed chain of vision; something that I noticed among people to be very important. Say goodbye to traditional printed movie affiches as Empire Cinemas in Erbil use only high quality LED screens for movie posters, making them highly appealing to the viewer and eco friendly too. The snack bar at the entrance offers a superb range of popcorns, soft drinks, snacks and more. Empire Cinemas Erbil are now open and catering to both mainstream and arthouse movie goers. However, official opening ceremony will be held approximately two weeks from today, to be officially announced by Empire...

Read moreThe halls are big, chairs are comfortable😌 sound system are okay... screen definitely requires maintenance, it's very dim and dark that it makes it very hard to enjoy some scenes (didnt use to be like that earlier). I always have a problem with the hall temperature...🥶🥶🥶. Ticket price is nearly 10$ for all age ranges. Snacks bar is average.. movies are up to date. unfortunately they don't offer 5_10 minutes break in the movie to refill ur snack... smoke or go to restroom.
I believe the cinema needs some reinvention in terms of adding more options for snacks as hot drinks.. etc and definitely upgrading their...
