My niece and I took the tour and had a great time. We had thought by the center's name they might have some live sheep. But they only had photos of the different breeds. They did however give us information to contact a gentleman who raises sheep and uses dogs to herd them. The tour itself was so very informative and hands on. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a short video on sheep and wool in Ireland, then started the hands on tour. He showed us how to card the wool and a drop spindle first. Once he demonstrated each spinning wheel we had a go at it. He showed us a trick he uses for spinning that will really help me with my attempts. It was definitely worth the stop. We also had some coffee and hot chocolate. My niece had the hot chocolate and it was so good she had a second cup. After this tour we went to Killary sheep farm, which the center recommended. We did call it before leaving the center to be sure it was open and what time the herding demonstration was. We heartily recommend looking Tom up at the Killary sheep farm after you visit the Sheep and wool center for the full sheep and wool...

Hi if you’re around this area, don’t pass by this beautiful centre in Leenane. The wool museum is a must visit. Seamus is knowledgeable, fun & makes you want to start spinning your own wool with his enthusiasm. The shop has lots of irish made produce, local too, which is brilliant, as an Irish person & for visitors. They have a great range of woollen cardigans, hats, bags, T-shirts etc. The cafe is full of savoury & sweet nourishing delights! Pure Yum 😋 The overall service is impeccable. To top it all off it’s an Irish owned & family run business. Áine & Gregg & the other staff are so friendly & knowledgeable on their products. They’re also so helpful to give assistance with directions to other places to visit. Places you may not have even heard about & worth a visit. Give yourself plenty of time to browse around too. Or if you’ve only a few minutes to grab a coffee & souvenir, it’s all there for you. They even post abroad, if you don’t want to carry your gifts. ✨✨✨✨✨ Love this place, hence a returning customer. Thanks Áine & Gregg for all your help. See you soon...

We ate in the Killary Cafe at the Sheep and Wool Centre. My friend had the Beef Stew; thick with meat and veg in a rich gravy, topped with generous scoops of mashed potatoes. I had a Greek Salad. Lots of leafs and a mixture of carrot ribbons, radish and peppers tossed in a delicious light dressing, topped with feta, sundried tomatoes, olives and cucumber. The portions were very generous. We shared a warm fresh Cinnamon Roll that was a pleasure, along with great coffee. We were struck by the good value options on the menu at a time when prices everywhere have increased. For a quick lunch a cup of soup at ÂŁ3.50 is available. The staff are friendly and helpful and the views of Killary Harbour stunning. The premises are bright and clean. We'll...

Mum and I decided to go out for a coffee and ended up here. We had the most delicious carrot cake ever and coffee in the coffee shop, and then spent a lovely half an hour browsing the gift shop. There was a fabulous array of lovely things to buy - perfect for everyone. I came away with five gorgeous, locally handcrafted goodies, including two crocheted bees and a chicken, a stunning ceramic bird brooch, and a ceramic heart with a robin on it. I could have bought so much more! (check out their fab range of framed prints and originals, the fluffy wool slippers, and the huge, genuine sheepskin rugs... ) The staff are super friendly, chatty and helpful. We will be back. Highly recommend!
