
What can you say , an absolutely stunning estate in Roscommon . You can take a boat out on the massive lake to get a closer look at the castle on the island or walk/cycle ( bikes can be rented) around the lake on the trails . Depending on your budget you can picnic and simply take in the beautiful sites or fill your day with segwaying and tree climbing followed by a meal in the centre . Minus one star for having to pay 5 euro per child to play in the park but having said that you do get free parking ( usually 4 euro ) if you spend over 20 euro in the centre . We spent the whole day there and the children loved it which is how I rate a day out . Bare in mind the tree climbing ( don't know about the rest of the activities) HAS to be booked online . Would go back if we were near but it wouldn't be my reason for staying...

The old house is gone and the replacement tower is disliked by many people although I do not see it as being that awful. It might not suit its surroundings but it offers great panorama views of the lakes and locality.
There is a walkway over the treetops that is good too.
The facilities for children are superb and it really is geared towards family groups. There is not that much to do here as an adult or a small group of adults...
