I have been to Loughkey Forrest park now twice and it just gets better and better! We had soo much fun doing the Boda borg activity that we didn’t realise the time and over stayed 🙈 the staff couldn’t have been helpful, kind and understanding and we felt soo bad that we lost track of time. Next time we will be booking for the whole day pass for sure!

On a personal note : While doing the activity I actually lost a very sentimental piece of jewellery. I didn’t realise it was missing until I returned home to Galway that evening and I was distraught.. I called the park and spoke to Kevin. I explained that the bracelet I lost was given to me the night before my wedding as a gift from the best friend and had been engraved with an initial that represented my brother who would have been the one to walk me down the aisle if he had been with us but sadly he passed away a few years prior tragically. This bracelet was like having a part of him with me everyday and I couldn’t believe I had lost it..

Kevin was soo kind, understanding and sympathetic considering I shouldn’t have had any valuables with me during the activity to start with. He said he would do what he could to find it but in all honestly I didn’t have much hope because I had been many places that day and it was like finding a needle in a haystack.

A week or two passed by so I had honestly lost hope, then Kevin calls.. they found the bracelet! He said that someone found it in one of the quests when a shine caught their eye. which was just a miracle as it is really dainty. I just cried and honestly couldn’t believe it.

He said he was glad that he could get it back to me and wouldn’t let me pay for the postage. He registared it by a post and sent me the tracking details and I got it the next day! I never thought I’d get it back.

I honestly can’t explain how emotional this whole ordeal made me but the fact they didn’t give up and managed to find the bracelet and return it to me was honestly a miracle and I am soo forever grateful to Kevin and all the team at Loughkey Forrest...

A great place to visit for all ages. Particularly good for families. Well signposted and easy to find. Parking is paid for most areas, but there is some free parking along the entrance to the Park. If you want to visit the main area and activities the paid area is more convenient. However you can get your ticket validated if you spend over a certain amount in the visitor centre. There are areas to walk, stop and picnic which cost nothing. Other activities are paid. There is a children's outdoor play area which is very big, enclosed and safe. It is paid but not expensive. There are more high energy activities from a "zip line" to Kayaking. A self guided walk of the old grounds with the "treetop" walk is very good. Some lovely views on this walk. Not to demanding and suitable for little & older legs alike. There is a cafe on site and food truck (outside). Toilets are available on site with good accessibility. Dogs are allowed (on leads). There is plenty to do here and with weather permitting it is an all day visit if you wanted. It is accessible by boats and there is mooring if you are doing a Shannon Cruise. There is camping facilities close by but cannot elaborate on terms and conditions. Visit the website to get more info. All in all a great place to visit with a fun vibe and...

Great spot to spend a day, with lots of activities. The car park here is huge, and costs €4. You pay as you leave and can use coins or card. Right in front of the car park is the harbour and activity center. You can take a boat out onto the lake, with kayaking for the more adventurous. Beside the activity center is a tour/walk that costs €22 for a family of 4 (kids under 7 are free). The tour takes about an hour and starts by leading you through the old servants tunnels before emerging beside a giant, horrible concrete viewing tower!?!? I cannot emphasis how out of place this giant viewing tower is on the tour, it's basically built on the ruins of the old house. That said.... marvelous view from the top...lift was broke. The final part of the tour is the walkway through the tree canopy. This is very impressive with great views of the lake and castle. There are information points explaining the sights, flora and fauna. If you are interested there is a forest walk off to the right of the car park, with the locals hanging fairy doors from the trees! Great spot to kill a few hours, the food in the cafe/wagon is decent too. I won't forget the tower, ever.
