I'm a 46 year old male and from the US. This tour is great for groups or individuals. There are plenty of local places to eat nearby, and you're about a 2 minute drive from the beach which is also a must-see! The staff is so unbelievably kind, knowledgeable and talented that I cannot even explain. My group of 3 arrived an hour late after coming from the Glendalough Monastic Site in the Wicklow Mountains. There were no other time slots to accommodate us before their next full group would be arriving within the hour. So, they pulled their unbelievably talented historians, actors and actresses together AND GAVE US A PRIVATE 45 MINUTE TOUR! I was so shocked and humbled by this action that I regretted being late even more than I had originally! The tour was nothing short of FANTASTIC. From the graveyard, through the grounds to the top of the keep, staff dressed in period attire educated us on every aspect of this beautiful castle, and the learning experience was nothing short of AMAZING! Defining phrases whose meanings are lost to history such as "a square meal" and others I now knew as a result of their thorough explanations regarding nearly every aspect of life in middle ages (including how to blood let!). This tour is special because of the actors. actresses, and the comical twist they put on each story told. They had me laughing loud enough to embarrass myself! To top it off they have a gift shop that has some really unique items, such as Connemara marble coasters!!! Connemara marble was an item we were searching for on our trip and had yet to find it sold anywhere. Well we found it here along with the most talented, friendly and professional group of people I met on my trip to Ireland. I HIGHLY recommend this must-see tour and castle, and I thank all of the staff at Dalkey for a most wonderful experience on our trip to Ireland. Thank you all, and we will see you again next time (don't worry - I'll be on time...

I really liked the staff, the writers area, the costumed performers and the visitor centre timeline display was really easy2educate yourself reading alone. Visually perfect. Spotless. Lovely gift shop. Only missing a cafe but tons pubs n cafes esp Finnegans nearby. Lovely arial view up above castle. We walked up little narrow(not4the fat) steps- not many -to balcony overlooking Dalkey. Cool! Lovely graveyard outside visitor centre I really liked! I'm spiritual! I felt a presence, a good1! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Magical Step Back in Time at Dalkey Castle
From the moment we arrived, the team at Dalkey Castle made us feel genuinely welcome. The customer service was outstanding—warm, attentive, and full of personality. Every staff member, from the ticket desk to the costumed guides, radiated friendliness and enthusiasm.
The tour itself was a brilliant blend of history and theater. The actors brought medieval life to vivid reality with humor, charm, and impressive knowledge. We met a barber-surgeon, an archer, and a cook, each sharing fascinating insights into 14th-century life.
The castle grounds and heritage center were beautifully maintained, and the interactive exhibits added an extra layer of immersion. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a unique experience near Dublin, Dalkey Castle is a must-visit. Highly recommended—and hats off to the team for making history feel so alive...
