Main dendix (middle) slope is quite compressed and harder to snowboard on than to ski. The other dendix slope is in great condition, I wouldn’t spend much or any time on the middle slope at all. The learner snowflex slope looks in good shape apart from the massive puddle lying in the middle of it
What is a most unfortunate thing though is that they offer zero support for snowboarding kids - no lessons if you are under 12 in ireland I’m afraid, unless you are a skier in which case then you’re all right, lessons are available - but nothing for kids snowboarding at all.
It’s a shame that the national snowsports centre does nothing for kids who want to snowboard - it’s no wonder we can’t produce any champions - we’ve no opportunities for our kids. Indeed again, what a sincere shame :-(
I guess our kids have to learn in their homes in front of YouTube. This is Eliza - aged 8 - only snowboarded for 35 minutes in her life - sat in front of YouTube and 10 minutes later...
Read moreCan't speak highly enough of the club and its instructors. Myself and my partner are hoping to go on our first ski trip in January and decided to book in to do two lessons last Saturday so we would know a few of the basics before heading off to Austria. We had a brilliant day and owe a massive thanks to Donal and Patrick and Evie for making the lessons so enjoyable. Both instructors (and intern assistant!) were incredibly friendly, patient and encouraging and we really felt by the end that we'd grasped how to start and stop and change direction while skiing which is more than we thought we'd manage for the first day! The fact that it was an adults only class too was great, we were able to have a laugh with a few of the other beginners and share ski plans.
Huge thanks to you all, we'll be back...
Read moreWe were thrilled about our trip to the Ski Club, but it ended up being a complete letdown. Our excitement quickly soured when the snowboard instructor, Mick, embarrassed our friends by demanding they leave the class. It was only their first time, yet we had mistakenly booked the second-level class. Mick's mood-spoiling didn't stop there; he later "changed his mind" and allowed our friend to stay, acting as though he was doing them a favor. It's baffling how he fails to recognize that people pay for these classes and expect professional conduct. This experience left a sour taste for everyone involved. Thanks to Mick, the whole experience was spoiled. While the snowboards and slopes were up to par, the management really needs to invest in training their instructors to uphold a standard of...
