Wonderful experience. The Waterford Greenway is a stunning 46 km off-road cycling and walking trail that follows an old railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan. It offers beautiful views of the Comeragh Mountains and Dungarvan Bay, and features eleven bridges, three impressive viaducts, and a 400m long tunnel12. Highlights from reviews: Scenic Beauty: picturesque landscapes and well-maintained paths. Family-Friendly: It’s a popular spot for family outings, with easy bike rentals available. Mixed Opinions: you can choose to start from Waterford, dungarvan or Kilmachthomas bike rentals depending on your preferences. I peronally started at Kilmachthomas and went 16km until the Bay and came back. The cafe here near the rental closed at 5 pm so eating from there was out of the question. But there ate restaurants and coffee stops on the way. Water refills are placed at points. Importantly. We got a flat tire on the way. Luckily we were near a main road and the rental truck came...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic, one of the best and beautiful greenway in Ireland. Just word of advice, if you are thinking of renting bikes then please do not park at SETU campus, there is no bike rental at the campus anymore. Start the greenway from Kilmacthomas , you have bike rentals, restaurants here , however this cuts short the greenway by 24 km(one way) . If you start from Kilmacthomas to Dungarvan the greenway length would be 22km(one way) . But the views are amazing and the route is mostly flat except at few places. If you want to view the railway bridge from the side will need to take a small detour. There is a beautiful restaurant near Dungarvan, which gets crowded pretty fast, but then you have plenty of options available in...
Read moreThis is a super ride!! An old railway transformed into a fantastic road that you can enjoy either by bike, running or simply walking. There are several parking areas along the way, so you can start from wherever you want. On the side from Waterford there is also a small train still working for tourist. The ride is very enjoyable, but you will have some small uphills and downhills. Great also for kinds, but if they are too young don’t expect them to do it all in one day 😉Both starting points (the initial part or last part depending from which city you are starting) are very panoramic, instead the middle part of the ride is more “standard” but still very nice through the nature. I spent two lovely day with my...
