Valentino Beach Club — Local services in Catanzaro

Don’t even bother. At least if you are a tourist. The locals seem to get service. If you are a visitor- nothing. The staff walk right past you sitting at a table. Sitting here for 30 minutes and can’t even get anyone’s attention to order food. Looks like a nice place but if you think they have service, it’s a joke. Looking at the other reviews, similar issues which they seem to respond to, acknowledging and apologizing. Seems they need new management and staff to fix this. Oh well. On to another property. Here’s a great idea: do what I did - walk a few feet to the north to a beach restaurant called Il Capitano. Such friendly staff greeted me upon entering. Server is very nice and speaks English!...

We spent 2 amazing weeks there with our 14 month old LO at the beginning of September. The beach is super accessible, we had a stroller and it was very easy to get around. Oggi io e la mia famiglia abbiamo pranzato al ristorante del lido Valentino. Il cameriere è stato decisamente arrogante e dopo un'ora d'attesa abbiamo chiesto lo stato delle nostre ordinazioni in quanto altri tavoli di clienti arrivati dopo di noi avevano ricevuto le pietanze. Ci è stato risposto che il ritardo era causato dell'affollamento. Poiché non era la prima volta che frequentavamo il posto e, inoltre, la maggior parte dei tavoli erano vuoti, ci è sembrata una risposta di comodo. Ci sono state servite delle fritture di calamari e delle patatine fritte che sapevano di olio esausto. Tutto aveva un retrogusto di olio non più idoneo alla cottura. Ho fatto presente al cameriere la mia percezione e mi ha riso in faccia. Ho pagato e non metterò mai più piede in questo ristorante. Ho ancora un ombrellone prenotato per una settimana e il per il pranzo mi recherò nei lidi limitrofi.
