They treat families with children poorly. Expect hidden costs at checkout and other surpsises. Very poor communication management. Impolite and arrogant. We stayed at Maso Botes with my wife and our 4 month old baby girl. First, everything seemed okay till we found out that on checkout they billed us every night for the baby cot. 50€ per night. Which is absolutely outrageous.
When we booked a room, there was no information about the extra cost for the baby cot. I only asked if it's available in the price for the room. They said yes, no problem. And when we checked out, they billed us for baby cot for each night.
Second, their communication was not friendly at all. They started to argue and said that "When you asked us if the cot was available, you didn't ask if it was an additional paid service or not. I replied that the service was available and that we could satisfy your request." I had experience asking for a cot in different other countries in Europe (10 countries) as we did our family road trip. No hotel charged us extra for the cot.
Very impolite and embarrassing communication on Maso Botes behalf. We would have rated it 4.5 out of 5, but that type of attitude towards my baby girl, that's very poor.
When I tried explaining my surprise about the extra costs, they didn't show any support or to try finding a solution. On a confirmation page there was a final price for all, this is what I expected to pay at checkout.
Their response was even more surprising: "For us, every guest, regardless of age, is considered equal to the others, and normally, the third person in a triple room costs € 50.00 per day."
So, 4 month old baby girl is considered equal to the others. Even though, hotels that charge extra for the cot, they do it around 30-50€ per stay, no matter the amount of days. Wow.
The cot costs 200€. Imaging you stay at the hotel for 10 days, they would charge you 10x50€ = 500€. Wow.
Because of that attitude and arrogant attitude, never...
