I would strongly advise having a car to visit this campsite.Unlike other sites I have visited all over Europe this one is quite remote and therefore requires your own car.The area itself is up there with best I've ever seen.Amazing scenery with vineyards aplenty .The local famous one being Sting and Trudies farm house which imo is a MUST visit for an evening meal. On arrival at the campsite check in was made was easy with alot of info provided. The site as you can imagine being in the mountains is extremely hilly and given there is only one train that comes every 20 minutes to bring you around the site upto and from the main pool and is always packed full of people and is challenging to get a seat 100% of the time.Families with buggies will struggle to get to the top pools on the daily. When they say the hills are not suitable for the elderly or infirm they are not joking. This was a major negative factor of this campsite which can easily be remedied.
The accomadation (cabin 643)was perfect for a family of 5 with 2 bed 2 shower room and generous decking area.Spotless clean on arrival. It's central location was perfect for us.
The pool areas were very clean and was easy enough to get a sunbed. There are several pools to choose from to suit all levels of swimming ability.Balls and floaties were allowed in the pools which provided great entertainment. The top pool(only)may require you to queue just before 9am to make sure you get a comfy pool side bed.Umbrellas are in abundance. The water bikes at the top pool are great fun to use when the staff are doing the gentle keep fit classes.
The supermarket on site was basic with some empty shevles and very little fresh produce.A local supermarket 5 mins drive from the site is Coop. You will find everything you could ever need here and well priced. We had even forgot to bring our playing cards and We found them here.Decathalon is 1 min drive from the Coop.
Dining. There is nemerous restaurants on site all serving very similar food. The takeaway pizza in the main area is all freshly made and delicious whereas in the other areas it maybe packaged bases. If you want a different variety going offsite down to the American diner is a great option.Great novelty 50s dining experience with girls on roller skates serving you food.
Day activities. We travelled with 3 teenagers which We found it had limited organised activities for their age group.(14 to 16).We went to a 10am one which never happened. The crazy golf price needs adjusting at €25 for 3.I found that to be abit pricey.A fiver a head would be more suitable. The pool tables are a nightmare to try get a game.Too many people and not enough tables. There are 3 sports courts. Two are tennis and one multisport. In ten days I only seen one tennis court being used twice and the other ones empty. The multi court was in constant use as football and our basketball loving son couldn't use the basketball ring.It would make more sense to have one for football/basketball/ tennis. It was great to have this all floodlid till 10.30pm which provided a great hangout spot for the teenagers.
For those whos families are too old for the amphithreatre entertaiment We frequented the main bar area for evening fun.Too our disappointment it only had live entertainment 2 nights out of 7.The both nights had 2 fantastic entertainers and the athmosphere was absolutely buzzing. It's a pity the live acts where not available everynight or every second night.
Overall about staff onsite.Very helpful and professional and friendly.
A great campsite to suit most families.
Recommadations. Two trains needed and arriving every 10 mins. Sports courts to be divided as mentioned above. More live entertainment in the main bar.
Thank you very much for providing a lovely safe and secure site and We do hope to visit you again shortly.
Best regards...
Read moreStayed here for a week with my wife and 2 kids and another family at the beginning of July having been recommended the site by a work colleague. Check in is at three and we arrived just after 12 however we were able to complete the necessary paperwork then and were advised to come back after 3 to collect our keys. We were told there would be a queue at three however we wouldn’t have to queue up and could come straight to the desk. We returned at three thinking we would be able to pick up our keys however an hour later we were still waiting as the staff battled with the large check in queues. Eventually we made it to our accommodation for the week. Having previously stayed in Bella Italia I have to say the accommodation here is nicer. I think our chalet was newly build as it had that fresh wood smell out on the decking. We had three good sized rooms in our chalet with an en-suite in the master double and another separate bathroom with a shower. The decking was also very large and able to accommodate all 7 of us easily in the evenings. We were based down by the outdoor gym which lead to the first problem, hills. This campsite is really hilly and when I say really hilly im not talking about the so called ‘cardiac hills’ youd see in Lanzarote etc. These are proper steep hills (youd nearly need a sherpa to navigate them) and unfortunately we had a buggy for our youngest. One day I made the trip from our chalet to the top pool and nearly passed out with the heat and the journey I had to go. There is a train bus which takes you around the site however 99 times out of 100 this was full by the time it came down to the stop by our chalet. Forget about queuing also, no one queues for the train or the shuttle bus into town or the water slides for that matter. The location of the site is also quite remote and if you don’t have a car you at a sever disadvantage. There are literally no taxis and those you find are extremely expensive; €50 for us to go to IL Palagio (stings restaurant) one night, literally a 5 minute journey. The second time we wanted to go there the guy wanted €80 and never showed up! There is a bus into figline Valdarno and from here you can go on the train to Florence etc but beyond this nothing much else so you feel a bit trapped when you don’t have a car. The pools are excellent and our kids really enjoyed them both especially the lazy river and slides. We didn’t avail of the kids club or entertainment but from what we overheard this was really good. The kids games room was very good also but more often than not the games were out of order. Minigolf and the zipline course were really good also but very pricey. The food on the site is average and prices are higher than what we would have paid for better food at other sites we have been to. Service also could be a lot better, they forgot to mains in a restaurant one night and the waiter had a full blown argument with 2 of our party. The service in Rione was excellent though and the waiter there was so nice and funny. The supermarket was excellent, best Ive ever been in at a campsite and had absolutely everything you could need. Overall this is a nice campsite but not for us and I wouldn’t stay here again due to what I...
Read moreWe stayed the last week of August, family of 4 (kids 2,5) booked through Eurocamp, 2bed premium with lounge decking.|Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday. The cabin was clean, modern and comfy and we were lucky to be very well located, just a short 2min walk from the main centre at the lower end so very handy. The cabin was quite small and definitely a squeeze though. This was our second eurocamp holiday and we felt this cabin wasn’t as well layed out as our last holiday. We made sure we had one with lounge decking which is definitely worth the extra to sit comfortably outside more. This cabin had no hairdryer (it says on the website site it does but when I rang the desk to ask them to bring one they said they no longer provide the and it is an error on the website), no hanging space and the inside table was squashed up right against the ‘sofa’. You couldn’t open the dishwasher without pushing the table and chairs right out the way. There was no cupboard space for food, only one mirror and very little bathroom storage space, so toiletries were on the floor. Shower temperature was tricky to get consistent and regularly fluctuated between too hot or freezing cold. We ordered the linen package but I feel this provided quite poor value for money with thin old bed covers and doesn’t include a shower mat so the floor was always wet outside the shower. The on-site Wi-Fi is poor and drops out a lot but we were able to ‘roam like at home’ with our network provider so didn’t bother us. The air con was great given the weather (heatwave!) though. ||The site itself was very clean, tidy and well kept. Even the communal showers and toilets. Laundry facilities on site for €5/load. We had a hire car so did a full shop at the large co-op in Figline Valdarno - the on-site shop had quite a few things though and wasn’t badly priced. Parking on site - we always managed to find a space near our cabin. Pools generally felt full and crowded and was a bit dirty in places but we could always get a sun bed somewhere to leave our stuff. It did quieten down towards the end of our week into September. We preferred the upper pool area as it felt less chaotic and more suited to younger kids but it is a hot uphill hike or a queue for the train. I liked how the shallower pool area floors were spongy and soft to cushion slips and falls. Avoid restaurante Bollo on site, it was terrible - bland ready meal food. There is a hu web app where you can find out what’s on but you can’t book anything through it. We tried to book the buffet at restaurant Sant Andreas one evening but they don’t answer the phone or respond to emails as suggested. |We had ‘dinner in the vineyard’ on Saturday evening at Palagina just up the road. This was a 3 course meal arranged by the camp and we used their shuttle service so we could enjoy the wine. It was brilliant, and we thoroughly recommend - a highlight of our trip. The kids enjoyed it too. |We managed independent day trips to brolio castle, Greves and Firenze (train from Figline V).|Overall we would recommend this park and we had a really relaxing...
