M.a.M. Museo archeologico di Monteriggioni — Local services in Monteriggioni

We happened across Monteriggioni and explored the walls followed by a visit the MAM archeology museum at the bottom of the hill in Abbadia Isola - the MAM was amazing! The site is beautifully laid out spanning Neanderthal man through to the relatively more recent burials in the old grounds of the monastery with something to interest everyone in our group - followed by such a welcomed cup of tea and pastries in the cafe / bar - staff were wonderful, the thought and attention to the exhibition were fascinating and such a great way to end our day travelling through the countryside...

Stayed in the onsite hostel accommodation which includes free entry to the museum. Good displays of the history and archaeology of the area from neanderthal stone tools through to the monastic era. Display information is dual language Italian...

Abbiamo visitato il Museo Archeologico di Monteriggioni e siamo rimasti piacevolmente colpiti: il percorso "all'indietro" nel tempo, aiuta i ragazzi a comprendere meglio l'evolversi delle conoscenze e pratiche dell'uomo. Un plauso all'allestimento di tutti i preziosi ritrovamenti: le urne cinerarie sono spettacolari nella loro eleganza. Siamo state ad Abbadia a Isola nel 2020 e non potevamo immaginare che in così poco tempo si realizzasse il tutto, compreso il restauro dello stupendo chiostro. Complimenti a tutti quelli che hanno contribuito al compimento di questa opera. Da notare che compreso nel biglietto, c'è la visita al Museo delle Armature a...
