This is a lovely location that I would highly recommend for anyone traveling in the area. We traveled here in late September and booked three nights with breakfast. We should’ve reserved dinner both nights as well but that was our mistake. We were able to get a table last minute and let me tell you, you WANT to eat here! Everything on the menu was absolutely scrumptious and perfectly cooked. I had pork dumplings and my wife had the best potatoes of her life. Breakfast was a complete spread with a wide variety of items to choose.
This location is a good distance away from Lago di Braise and there’s a comfortable hike just up the road and to the left from the inn. We used the AllTrails app to find the trail into the woods and it gave us a good stretch of our legs prior to enjoying the lake.
We made some mistakes and I’ll try to help you avoid them. The bus system was strange and not very easy to understand at certain parts of the year, I’m guessing just with limited service during the warmest months. While there is a bus stop out front, you need to communicate with the hosts to figure out your travel plans before arriving. Luckily, the Plonar family is very friendly and perfect hosts and will help make your stay exemplary.
Next I should mention that this is a Family-run business and most do not speak English. I only speak beginner German, and was able to hobble my way through conversations through Google, but I would’ve practiced much more prior to arriving. Again, the Plonars were very courteous, and made these difficulties minor issues, but I wish my German had been a bit stronger.
Finally, we booked through Booking.com but didn’t pay anything, and were reached via email to wire money to the business. While a bit skeptical at first, we did wire the funds and all worked out exactly as planned. I normally wouldn’t have risked this, but the amount requested was the standard amount for a stay and I decided was trustworthy. I’m glad I did.
Overall, we would absolutely return. The room was clean and comfortable, the family was kind and friendly, the food was filling and delicious, and the location was...
Read moreWe stopped at this restaurant on our way to Lago di Braies, planning to have lunch before heading out for some sightseeing. Since there’s a bus stop right next to the restaurant, we thought it would be convenient to park our van there, have a meal, and then take the bus to Braies and back—just for a couple of hours.
Before ordering, we specifically asked if it was okay to leave the van in the parking lot after eating, waiter asked owner , and they said it’s not a problem as long as we dined there. So, we ordered food and drinks, had our lunch, and when we were about to leave and double-checked—suddenly the answer changed. Now we were told we could only leave the car there while eating. Nothing was said about this earlier.
It was disappointing and felt like we were misled—especially coming from the owners themselves.
As for the food: not great. We ordered burgers with potatoes. The meat was okay, but the bread and potatoes were soggy and lacked any real flavor or texture.
Overall, a frustrating experience that could have been avoided with honest communication. Not recommended if you’re looking for friendly service or...
Read moreThe woman with the glasses serving outside was so incredibly rude to everyone she served. She seemed bothered to serve us from the beginning and slammed the menus down without saying a word. We decided we wanted to order drinks and waited 15min to get her attention. She was very angry to hear we didn’t want food and made us move inside to the bar saying that she told us it was food only outside with the nice view (she never said a word to us). She said something rude about us to the bar staff and they looked shocked. Thankfully the two lovely women in the bar apologised for her behaviour and were very accomodating. Based on the amount of apologies we received from the staff it seems like the rude woman is always like this. I recommend getting the voucher for parking because it’s the cheapest and closet option to the lake… but skip out on visiting this restaurant it’s really not worth...
